he claims unadultered but puts a K&N (claims OEM filter), two-tone leather (original probably got ruined), engine bay is dirty and rusting, brake fluid is black, and who knows what else wasn't changed.
I'd offer 12.5 cause I know the poster is FOS on some things and it's almost at 180k so a new WP and TB is needed soon :p

meticulous Mechanical Engineer, doesn't mean anything either. Seems like he copied and pasted lots of his stuff in there.

Lol, yeah this made me chuckle. I know plenty of engineers that treat their vehicles like shiz, but really are amazing at their jobs. No correlation.

LOL... You taking him apart, IMHO he got some credit for been 1st owner, TX truck \ Double Cab has his value, since is said that miles is not an issue on tacomas so up to US$17,000 does not seem expensive considering you can't get all those packages TRD\4x4 \Limited, sport shell for less than 42Kplus :p I'm bias because got same model:gossip:

Taking him apart only on the 'meticulous engineer' part, lol. I really don't care at what price people buy or sell their cars. I'm a free market man. I guess I should laugh even more at the folks that believe that gives credibility to a vehicle owner! Hahaha

:rofl:imho you can't get one like that for 12.5K, I searched a lot since 2015 and for that money was one at Dallas same miles 17OK, but 3 owners and not limited edition, amount of owners counts but carfax also count even more, but at the end agree with your said ..free market man...you can't even give credibility to carfax now days  (who cares but I believe in God .... learn meditation free www.bkwsu.org and run tacomas until the end:burnrubber:

Lulz, I have no idea on prices or values, or for that matter really care, I really don't. But I do know that if a person is an engineer, it doesn't necessarily mean they take care their vehicles. That's the only thing that had me laughing. Not his selling price. But most sales tactics make me laugh, lol

The only reason I voice an opinion on that ad is the little nuances. If it was pristine (he mentioned garage kept) then it would be less prone to rust and the brake fluid would be lighter in color (fluid change). The leather is not factory (although leather was a factory option for Limited), so we don't know if the originals were beat to s*&t or not or why he changed (personal preference? sure go for it), also note the door panels were changed to match. Don't get me wrong, I'm OK with the two-tone color of choice but I'm not a leather person, rather have cloth. The K&N is useless and noisy (I sold mine a couple years back for this reason) and dirty, he could of at least freshly washed it. Don't know how much dust is getting through to the engine. No pictures of the frame but from a few shots it looks OK.

Maybe 12.5 is harsh but gotta start somewhere to meet in the middle :D

my mechanic told me that a car should be driven at minimum 8,000 miles a year. otherwise things start working backwards. is this something you guys agree with?

My '04 was listed for $20k at a Toyota dealership last March, bought it for around $18k before taxes and what not. 24k miles on it at the time (46k now).

Got to love Kelly blue book, they are so jacked with their lame results, says my truck is worth 2600.00 in excellent condition. I'd buy a fleet of them at 2600, each :)))
Mmm guess I wil die with it then, :)))
