Konas, and some other brands like Gary Fisher, tend towards short front-to-rear geometry. As a long-torsoed person, I found them uncomfortable for me, but of course, your mileage will vary. Specialized tend to be longer-than-average front to rear, so they fit me very nicely.

Sure, you can compensate some for this with longer/shorter stems, but too long of a stem on a short frame bike tends to make the steering less stable, and moves your weight more over the front wheel. Conversely, too short of a stem does funny things to the steering geometry, too

Anyone got a halfway decent set of 700c wheels laying around they want to get rid of? Looking for a spare set to toss some knobbies on to hit some of the greenway stuff this fall

No wheelset, only the tiny looking 700x35 clement explor ush tires that came on my new Fuji Tread 1.0 gravel/cx/greenbelt/sidewalk/etc bike. Bumped up to some 37c WTB All Terrains.

if you give up on finding a used set, and these are for cyclcross, you could do a lot worse than a set of Velocity cross rims, like the Dyad + Shimano sets, like this one, http://www.ebay.com/itm/SHIMANO-ULT...ike-Wheelset-8-9-10-Sp-Grey-NEW-/311632773653

BUT... is this for a road or cross or mountain frame (how many mm wide is the rear axle)? disk or rim brake? how many gears? are you a small/light rider, or a clyde ? (that last affects how many spokes you should consider for a gravel/cross bike... a heavier rider should go for 36H spokes)

oh, and standard quick releases, or new fangled mtb style through-axles? if its standard QR, its probably 100mm front and 135mm rear. if its through-axle, could be 142mm rear.

don't think those are disk brake axles, they do look like nice touring style wheels. ultegra hubs are silky smooth.

Wheelset not bad. These are tires I have. Never rode on. Bought different tires when buying the bike and they swapped them at the shop.....

would be willing to sell them as I have the other bkup set the shop put on which are roadish tread pattern. I went to WTB 37s..........The clements look like they go from $40-50 each. Since these have never touched ground outside shop thinking $60 for the pair, shipped with tracking, paypal & pics for you of actual items.

Those tires are awesome. Fast on pavement, handles gravel really well. Highly recommend them.

So how are you all mounting your bikes in your truck. I hate taking my front wheel off to use my fork mount and my bike is too big to fit in the back shading up and the idea of laying it down pisses me off everytime. I think I'm screwed. And with 35's no top mounting.

I 2nd the Clements ush Xplor's. Great tire for the price.

As far as mounting, I currently mount on my roof but am thinking of getting a Kuat rack for the hitch. Only thing about the hitch mount is that my dog is almost always with me when I would be using a hitch mounted rack. No matter what way I approach traveling with my bikes, there are issues I don't like about roof or hitch racks.

    Sweet!

340Km in two days.... 205Km in one day.

    JEALOUS! That thing is STUNNING!

I have not ridden at all in the past 15 months for medical reasons... and I usually do 2,000Km in a bad year, 5,000 in a good year. Sigh. I will scrape together some pictures.
