I did mine slowly over the course of the weekend.
fri-night pull lights+bake and take apart
Sat- paint internals+ projector retro
Sun-clean housing channels+ reseal and reinstall.

Looks as if it should have came that way! How many coats of paint did you have to use and what was the dry time between each coat?

Here is a full list of what I purchased. Keep in mind the projectors are a big chunk of the bill, but worth it IMO.

I also performed this mod and has been my favorite so far. The different in light output and the quality of light is huge. The only thing I can advice is, be patient and take your time opening the lamps.

 

For those of you that've opened up your headlights, have any of you noticed that there's a large plate between the bulb and projector that block about 75% of the light? The opening that light can pass through is only a 3/4" slit, the rest of the light is blocked. Maybe that's why the new projectors are brighter, maybe they don't have this restrictor?

 

^ are you referring to the Cutoff shield?(flat piece of metal halfway between Lens and bulb?)

 

Possible that's what it is, i'm no pro when it comes to this. Seems the light would be brighter without that shield between the bulb and projector.

 

Do NOT remove it. That is what makes the light pattern "cutoff" so you don't blind people. Technically it would be brighter, but it would be like driving around with your highbeams on.

 

So if these housings I bought from you were to be used for custom driving light retrofit, not having them would probably be better. I'd want light thrown out all over the place no?

 

Yes, it would throw light everywhere. Put a bulb in, hold it in your hand and try it out at night; with/without shield.

 

I've got H11 LED bulbs in my low beams, high beams, and oem fogs and with all 3 on at the same time its bright as hell. I don't drive like that on public roads of course unless i's some pitch black back road and no one else is on the road. Just looking to replace the stock fogs with projectors using these housings.

Started same as you. Didn't budge. 10 more at 260 didn't budge. 10 more and a little more prying than I liked but it worked. What side did you pry on? There are guys talking about not prying at all and just pulling them apart. I can't even comprehend how that's possible after going through it. Paint and reassemble this week.
