Question about drive belt compatability

    Hey there,

    I have a 2000 Tacoma 2.7L 4 cyl.

I found a decent deal on a set of drive belts (alt, PS, Ac) but they say they are for the 2.4L engine. Are these compatible with my 2.7? Same gen and everything but I found the OEM part numbers are different. These claim to be OEM belts.

Sorry if it's a noob question, I've only been getting into car repair in the last year or two. I've done my brakes, replaced the gaskets between the exhaust manifold and downpipe and rewired my blinkers into my side markers (welded a brush guard/bumper). Just to give a scale of what I can generally handle when it comes to wrenching. I only add all this because it seems I'm only lacking in a torque wrench to do this job myself and was curious if anyone found it more of a pain than the videos make it out to be.

Thanks for any help Toyota friends!

I have never tried to put belts for a 2.4 on my 2.7, but I assume they don't fit. Just get the ones for your engine.

Also, it's a pretty easy job to change all 3. There's some good YouTube videos, and a nice write-up here. Hardest part for me was getting to the alternator pivot bolt nut.

    Welcome and good luck!

For my purposes, I would buy genuine Toyota belts, install them, and replace them every 50K miles with genuine Toyota belts. I go off-roading 2 or 3 times every year, I go alone, and I don't mean down to the local mud hole either. For me, reliability is a major concern. Where I go I feel cramped if I see more than 1 or 2 other vehicles a day.
