Last July I ordered rotors, drums and pads from Auto Anything. They are the Power Stop brand.
Due to a serious injury, I found myself unable to get up and down or even stand longer than a few minutes. The parts sat in my garage until recently. With the recommendation of this forum,I found a good garage willing to use all my parts!
Everything was going fine until yesterday when they called to tell me that the rotors are too big.
I called Auto Anything and they have emailed Power Stop. It looks like I Screwed The Pooch. I need 11.5" rotors but they sent 12.5". Right part number but wrong part.
I need to find a real store to reorder the replacement rotors and pads from. I looked at Rock Auto but they sell Power Stop brand.

Suggestions for a good supplier? ASAP, my truck is sitting in a garage waiting on me.

go to napa or autozone or any other auto store near you and they will have a set right behind the counter.

but if you are having a shop do the work for you, if for some reason you cant pick them up at any local auto store, then just let them go order it from their parts supplier

I know I can pick up OEM quality but I am hoping to find better quality.
    Thanks

When it comes to normal standard rotors, it's hard to beat the OEM quality. Usually they are the best. Are you looking for another brand of drilled or slotted rotors?

I have actually had multiple problems with rotors from autozone. I haven't bought them from many other parts stores since I can walk to the autozone, but I'm ordering them ahead of time from now on.

from what I have noticed some of autozone stuff is questionable at times.

I like to use o'reilley auto or napa for anything rubber or front end parts

for brake pads and shoes I like to use o'reilley auto or napa because they sell mostly wagner brand and those seam to be of better visual quality as well as the rotors being thicker but for most other auto parts brands, they are seam to be the same generic level of quality unless you go oem

Yeah this as well. Forgot about the brembos. They'll be as good as OEM, as stated.

OP, are you needing rotors right now? Like truck is being worked on right now? Or you can order online and have them shipped?

Wagner ThermoQuiet. Best pad/shoe I've ever bought. They last forever and resolved my ABS issue.

Interesting. Never tried a Wagner pad. I'm gonna check those out. On my Toyotas, I've only ever used Akebono, manufacturer of the OEM brake pads Toyota uses on vehicles that are imported here from Japan.

meh... I'd hold out for the Brembo's or factory OEM rotors if it were mine.

    Wagner ball joints suck
and so I won't utilize their other components.
Not even with a NAPA lifetime limited warranty.

besides... this discussion is in regards to a 1st gen tacoma's
    not 2nd gen tacoma's.
Tho' maybe you own one of those too ?

    1st gen are lug centric
ABS was basically an option on many 1st gen's

    2nd gen are hub centric
ABS likely became a standardized option for these model years.

@Everybody, thanks for your input! I finally ordered EBC rotors and yellow pads. About $250.00 delivered. I never got a response from the fine folks at Power Stop......they are now on my S..T list.
If anyone is interested, I have a pair of Power Stop rotors (12.5", 6 lug) and a pair of Power Stop Z736-436 pads. Everything is new and still in the box. I don't have a clue what they fit!!!!!!!

the rear drum pads on wagners are the same length as oem where all the other brands I have tried the drum pads are shorter then the oem pads were, sometimes by as much as a full inch shorter.

not talking about the shoe but the actual pad surface that is on the shoes, that's why I will only use wagners for rear drum pads. rear brakes are already not as good as front discs so I certainly don't want to put shoes on them with less pad surface then the oems had

Wagner brake pads are good, I have used them before without issue.

ABS was standard on "most" 1st Gen 01+ as it conformed to NHTSA(sp?) https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/regulations/title49/section/393.55 (although some single cab models did come without?)

you may be thinking of VSC (vehicle stability control) which was not standard until 2010 models of Tacoma (had to be by 2012 due to regulations)

VSC was a rare option on 1st Gen Tacomas and 4Runners, hence the 12.5" rotor @Braindead vs the standard 11.6"

drilled/slotted rotors are overblown and underutilized. unless you are racingf and need to expend the gases that build up with constant braking (no, stop-and-go traffic does not count) then solid rotors will give you the best braking performance since you will have the most surface area to make contact. If you think you will need more braking power, do the Tundra Brake Upgrade and still stick with OEM.

I have EBC rotors and pads on my Tacoma now, got a good deal like you did. I got the standard pads but wish I had moved up to get less dust, oh well live and learn. TBU in my futur as I travel a lot of hills on a daily commute.

Interesting on the length of pad material, good to know.

I feel lucky after 147k that I'm still on the stock pads :D I even have the LSPV relocate bracket on the top holes to have it use more of the rear.
