Mid travel overland-wheeler build with 35's and BS w/ SAS in the works

I'm going to get those for my roof rack.

 

I just used the larger brass toilet flange bolts to mount my axe on the bed rails. They worked great!

 

It just depends on what you are using them for. Bolts like that wouldn't allow me to install or remove my cross bars.

Any idea what two full 5 gallon gas cans weigh?

 

A gallon of water weighs 8.36lbs
So its safe to say that the weight is roughly 42lbs +the jerry can weight.

 

So like 90# for two Jerry cans?

 

Depending on metal or plastic jerry can. But 90ish sounds good.

 

Ill only have one of those also. Not a dual.

That's a lot of stress on that spindle with all that weight up there. Better off with a dual swing out if you want both jerry cans with water and a 35" tire

 

I think in the closed position it'll take off some of the stress froM the spindle. But if you swing it out and leave it hanging out there, yeah I can see those 2 full jersey cans putting undue stress.

 

That's what I was meaning. When it's closed it won't matter. But side not what the fuck is a jersey can?

And gas is lighter than water.

 

Correct, almost 2 lbs lighter.

Some do gas cans, some do water jugs. Build it for the heavier of the 2 and youre set.

 

We'll see where this goes. I'm sure I'll be fine though. The only time it'll be open is when cooking at campsite
