    Alright guys,

I've seen some of you posting pictures of you camping at the edge. What's a fella gotta do to learn these locations to be able to enjoy the views? I have a few days off next week on my birthday and am planning on going camping and want to go somewhere new.

    Thanks in Advance.

yeah this is starting to get good! I like it!

or even other areas in AZ.... I just go to the rim a lot, and want to go somewhere else for a change!

I know we had an AZ camping thread, but I felt like a lot of it when I have looked before was just pictures of peoples camps....

FYI. Point Sublime is in the park & requires a permit. There are plenty of free spots at other viewpoints further in though:).

@MaverickTRD mind me asking where some nice camping spots on the mogollon rim are?

Rainbow Rim is a section on the west side of the Kaibab Forest outside of the North Rim Nat'l Park with 5 different points that you can camp on the rim.

18+ mile trail connects the points for Mtn Biking or Hiking also.

This. FR300 is our go to. Headed up Friday afternoon for a 1 night to so the wife can test the RTT. Would make it both nights, but have football tickets for Sunday.

My now favorite thread on this site, thanks to the beautiful pictures. You guys out in desert country don't know how lucky you have it... or maybe you do. Your scenery and vast expanse of offroading is something I dream about, and is just not present in this part of the country. I've spent a little time at the GC, in Flagstaff, Sedona, Phoenix, and Tucson and I fell in love with the landscape. I wish I could take the time to drive out there and just explore. Happy trails.

Thanks. I definitely need to get out more & explore:).

As long as it's not muddy, I would say 2wd friendly.

Sub'd for a later date...good info on what's required. I go to Big Bend in TX and they have a similar backcountry camping permit system and a single place to sign up.

@SixthSnail so I see there are two sites to camp at? How do you know one will be open when you drive all the way there? that's a long drive to potentially not have a place to set up camp...?:confused::boink:

Think you reserve it. Not sure. I accidentally camped illegally.
