I may have purchased 20 cases of 24pk bottled water last month.... lols I also try to pick and choose my gear, when I'll even need it who knows but it's good to know I can cut off the grid for a while and hold out. I just need to spend more time out in the woods testing what I have read or learned from the past.

Goddamn it...just put in my new gravel driveway, and had everything graded nice with a topsoil border around that I'll add grass seed later...heard some car creepin down my driveway a moment ago and fuckers didn't even bother to turn around in the driveway, fuckin drove on the topsoil, tore the shit out of it! Outdoor light was on so I went out with my hands up like WTF, and they sped off..

man I'm fuckin' fuming right now...that was lot of work to have some fuck do that... sometime's I'm really glad I don't own firearms, though I was really close to hurling a chunk of firewood through their windshield cause it was close at hand.....

I need to breathe....:censored:

Being that I'm from CT, I'll just have the family jet drop me off. Wil you have car service from the local airport to your house?

I believe 4wd.vehicles are actually exempt.from.that, but the inspection rules say the same as above so it's a moot point

Digital gauge says 67mph, analog says 40-ish.

I may have called a cab service this AM and reported one of their vans for blowing a stop sign and not signalling :)

Never could grasp why someone in a vehicle emblazoned with their company info would drive or otherwise act like a bag of vinegar and water.

Because it's not their name and they DGAF. If it was their company or their name, they might feel differently but a growing number of people have no loyalty to the company they work for.

Morning friends. Only one more day until the end of the month and fiscal quarter is by us. It's been hell at work. I swear if you sit too long in one spot, the company I work for will box you up just to make a sale. Seeing that I'm in the quality department, I haven't been too popular with the operations guys these last few days as they need to make sales but I have to make sure the stuff is done correctly...

Besides some minor setbacks it's been a good trip. It also helps that I quite enjoy the area here.

Pretty sure the rental land yacht has the 2.7l turbo motor Noel has. It won't burnout, or put you in the back of the seat but when the turbo kicks in it's got pretty nice, smooth power delivery. Also, lack of 4wd hasn't stopped it. I may or may not have knocked the low rider stanced underside off a ton of rocks, but have been able to get most places by Clarkson-ing this giant lazy boy around:anonymous:

I have a generator, yes. The freezers will stay frozen rock hard for about a week if I keep them shut, and I keep about 30-40 gallons of stabilized fuel on hand and just rotate it out every six months or so. And the generator cord is long enough to reach the house from my insulated workshop in the garage, so there's almost zero outside noise at a pinch. I figure that way if things ever went completely sideways I'd have enough time to run the freezers on the generator for a few weeks, and then convert my frozen food to pressure canned food so it didn't spoil.
We've got a bored well with a hand pump rigged up in the cellar for water, so all I have to do is turn a pair of valves to use that instead of the electric pump. I keep a pair of 50 gallon drums full too, just in case of a breakdown with the pump). Woodstoves for heat and cooking (and for hot water). Tons of oil lamps and fuel for them for light, fuel for the coleman stove & lantern (which are both dual-fuel for extra flexibility) and I've recently picked up some Aladdin kerosene lamps that can run off of the K1 in my oil tank too.

Other than that, though, I'm just your average guy. :notsure:

I used to do the prepping thing from a 'on the move' standpoint, but since we live in a part of the state that's fairly low-population and on a dead-end road that's a good walk away from major corridors I've shifted my prepping a bit and I've got my house set up to be pretty much perfect for a 'shelter in place' approach. But I still maintain a BOB just in case, and I've got a bunch of ammo and devices to propel it, so that hasn't changed, haha!

This has been a long-term hobby/goal, though. I've been prepping for probably 10 years or so; this didn't all show up at once. It's easy to get overwhelmed when you're starting and try to buy a big stockpile all at once. What I did was whenever I was at the store buying canned/dry goods I got two of everything instead of one, until I had a good stockpile built up. Then I started buying the ancillaries, like fuel, soaps, ziplock baggies, etc. Non-perishables, essentially, which are in a different storage spot.

For what it's worth, though, my GF thinks I'm crazy too.

Well, there's an emergency airstrip down the road from me, so I guess that's it's a possibility. :notsure:

Have you turned the traction control off? Mine will just squeak the tires with the traction control turned on, but if you switch it off she'll lay strips in 1st and chirp them on the shift to second. :notsure:

    Not that I've tried....

Keep in mind that his is a rental also so it's probably been beat like a rented mule (because it essentially is one).

    There's that too, I suppose.

I'm kind of surprised they'd put the 2.7 in a 2wd rental mule; they usually get the base 3.5 motor.

Damn dawg, you cook on your woodstove! now that is some backwoods shit!

I like your style (minus the Ferd :p) though, and I'd like to at least start to build up stores and def get a chest freezer. Your right, it doesn't need to happen overnight, just add when you can and also make more storage space when you can

This is a great time of year to think and plan bout that kinda thing :)
