My CV boot has been torn since I bought the truck and I've decided just to rebuild it. Where can I get parts other than the stealership? Or do you recommend where I can get a whole new assembly? I will be doing the boot slide mod when I get either 1

I'd just go to our local Napa...$50ish for inner and outer boot

Would they sell the cv joint separate? I plan on rebuilding it and I don't want to do all the work with parts that will break easily. But if Napa has quality stuff it's even better since I can get it locally

You mean the "tulip". or spider assembly i believe its actually called. Not sure if you can buy them separate for these axles.

Yeah. Bummer I guess I'll try the ones on rock auto. $50 each for the complete cv shaft.

Here's what I'm thinking now. 1 of the two from rock auto. Or get a set of Cardone brand from my local Napa dealer for around $85

I've got the cardone on both axles from RA. One was put on last year and I just put the other one in on Sunday. The year old one is showing signs of dry rot on the boot already.

FYI - they came with a square clip on the diff side. I had to remove and reuse the round clip on the OEM axles. The square one would not go in the diff. I can't vouch for your two choices though. I would shoot for the more expensive one in the hopes a better quality boot.

My local Napa dealer has the Cardone brand and from what I've read they seem to be alright for the price. I will most likely change the boot with some high angle boots I forgot I had lying around from my 4runner

Figured might as well use them since the 4Runner's cv's are still good. I'll get it a replacement set later. You ever hear of anyone doing the boot slide mod with high angle cv boots? Or will I be a test dummy
