17" TRD SEMA Pro rims w/ 245/75/17s?

Does anyone have this setup? I have the BFG KO2 265/70/17 on them now and love them, but will be doing a lot of snow this season and my experience from snow is wider is not better.

Also, because I have mud guards, I do get a tiny rub when full turn. I'm an SR5 without any lift.

Slight decrease in diameter will help with rub (maybe) but going more pizza cutters will help in the slush. Can't afford two sets and wasn't expecting to be up north this winter, so I have to make a change.

So if anyone has the SEMA TRD Pro 17s with some 245s, please let me know how it 'feels' and post some pics if you can.

 

I have the same rims with 265/70/17 on a new SR5 and I have no running whatsoever. Your best bet is to find a set of steel rims and put mainly snow tires on them and deal with the tpms light for the winter. My nitto terra grapplers are rated to deal with snow just fine. Just my 2¢ off course

 

Cant afford another set of rims and tires. Hope to take off the tires and sell and then put on some other tires.

I have the weathertech mud guards, no fender flair trim on mine, which mudguards do you have where there's no rub?

But driving in snow/ice on wide wheels is no bueno at all. St Mary's Glacier NP in Montana. I have the 4x2 and on sand, wide is awesome even without 4x4, but snow, ice, and slush wide tires are not an option really.

 

I don't have mud guards on my truck. But can't see where they would possibly rub if I had them. Steel rims are cheap to be had. It's the tires you would have to worry about. Unless you found some in good condition used

 

I'm very curious as well what 245s would look like on 17" TRD Pro SEMA wheels.

 

Most people running this set up WITH mud guards, factory or other, experience minor rubbing at full lock. I have this set up with no mud guards and have no rubbing at all and it does't look like it would if i did have them, but read the posts... tons of people report it. I second the steel rims and cheap used snow tires for winter! Much better idea than running pizza cutters year round. My $.02

 

I happen to have a set to sell with lugs, covers and factory tpms if you felt the need to have Toyota program them in every season between the two sets

 

Found a preexisting thread and didn't have to start a new one! Enough with the theatrics and patting myself on the back, here's my question.. or kind of question for some IMO feedback. I have access to almost unlimited sets of General Grabber HTS 245/75/17's but my Taco, OR DCSB 4x4, has the stock 16" rims. Like almost everyone, I really like the SEMA rims and could outfit my truck all around SEMA wheels and the tires for right around $1000. Is it worth it or a good idea for someone who uses their truck for a daily driver and weekend warrior?

 

Absolutely it's worth it. Mine is a daily driver and weekend warrior as well. Just remember that the tires well be wider and a hair noisy but nothing the radio can't drown out. Just research the tires to see if they fit your need. Do you have steel rims on your truck now?

Well, I bought a 5th TRD Pro SEMA rim for the spare a while back, it's in my closet now. Going to take it to Firestone and see about putting on a 245/75/r17 Destination A/T it's a 17x7 rim, so it should work. And a lot of people around here are asking $500+ for steelies with rubber!

Since I have the 31.6" with the 265/70/17s going to a 31.5" with the 245/75/17 shouldn't be too bad as a spare for now and will give me an idea if I can live with the look or not. Really don't want to go back to steelies for winter. Seen ORD rims on here cheaper than steelies local.

 

The gains in traction will be minimal if any at best, I think your wasting your time and should just run what you have.

 

When you say snow do you mean actual depth or just ice roads? Skinny tires do work better in deep snow but how often do you see that? If its ice your concerned about then your really wasting your time, just run what you have.

 

I'm looking to do a similar setup as your truck on a '17 SR. Do your tires stick out past the fenders at all? Wondering if I'm going to want to add flares or not.

 

Nope tires sit perfectly flush with the outside of the fender. Love the stance the rims and tires have the truck with the offset and back spacing on them.

Very nice, no worries at this point on my end. I'm pretty set on the gunmetal FN fx Pro wheels, which only will stick out 4mm-5/32"-.1575" more (at most).

That stance really is bad ass.

 

With those measurements the rims you want are damn near the same dimensions. You'll be good either way.
