Soooo... assuming I read that right... Wear them down to 2/32nds and claim the warranty!

Make sure to have them rotated and milage documented.

I've never had to claim a tread warranty on anything but it looks pretty straight forward...only part of it that looks sketchy it the part that says "normal highway use." Doesn't make sense that they can deny a warranty for a All Terrain tire used off-road??

    I'm no lawyer tho :anonymous:

It recommends rotation at least every 5000 miles documented. I'll be religious about it now that I know they could be subject to premature wear. But it's still just a bummer if the tires only last for 1/2 the recommended life cycle and hopefully you don't get the run around when trying to make a claim.

I'd be pissed if they gave the run around when trying to put in a claim.

Especially if they give the run around for "normal" use of an all terrain.

I won't run a tire at 2/32's in the winter. 1/4" is my minimum. So I would never get to the point where I would make a claim.

If this is your winter tire, you must have VERY mild winters...

I don't think this would be my choice for winter driving at all... no way this is aggressive enough, even for California mountains...

Does anyone have this tire in 265/70/17 in the E load rating? As I understand it they are slightly taller and have deeper tread than the 6ply one.

Usual excuse, been swamped at work but will try to snap/upload a few pictures tonight. They look sooo gurddd. IMO, these aggressive AT styles, especially with the protruding sidewall, look better than MTs given how much more tread there is to "fill out" and square off the tire's profile (except for the Toyo MTs, my favorite tire in looks the department).

This is something I failed to mention during my initial post and was in the back of my mind after reading other comments here. Having said that, I can't say I feel any kind of softness/over-compliance when driving as my AT II were no softer. If anything, these feel more surefooted while driving but maybe its the extra weight (granted only ~2.5lbs per tire). I was not very good about rotating/re-balancing my AT IIs and they ended up lasting 57k miles and still have a good 4-5/32" tread left (why did I switch?? Ha). I'll make a point to do so with these but it will be more of a chore given that the DT I had to purchase these from is a good drive from my house, and the rotations must be documented with a receipt I assume. Time will tell...

They are definitely sure footed. They grip up and hookup.

I could feel them grabbing and pulling hard as I was turning, fully cranked, out of my driveway this morning. My AT IIs didn't do that either. I am hoping newfangled rubber defies the norm for a wet-weather, grippy tire and last the full 55k (crosses fingers, arms and legs). I think we'll all be using the warranty if not.

    -------------------------------

Forgot to ask, what PSI is everyone running (Size and LT/P)?

Granted I'm in a 4unner so weight distribution is little more than the Tacos (equal PSI front to rear) but I'm at 34.5-35 PSI all-around for my P285/70/17s. It feels great and turns/rolls well which makes me think its maybe a little high-centered, too much PSI?? I tried running them at ~33 PSI last night and didn't feel as good to me. Yet to do the chalk test.

I need to do a chalk test on mine as well. I like how it feels at 34-35 PSI in the front, but need to do a chalk test before running it long term.

P265/70R17 set at 29psi cold. They typically warmup to 31psi per the TPMS.

Note that MPG measurements with larger tires using the truck instruments are probably meaningless. I understand that the speedometer/odometer records data from a wheel sensor. With larger tires installed, the wheel/tire will travel farther with each revolution, but the truck doesn’t know that. This means the distance traveled will be underestimated. At the same time, it will take more power to move the truck since the larger tire will act like a higher gear ratio. The net result will almost certainly be a decrease in recorded gas mileage. The only accurate measurement would be to use a GPS based distance recorder or to drive on an interstate and record the distance from the mile markers, not the odometer.

True. Or, you could just do it the quick-and-dirty way by multiplying the mileage by 1.07 (as my 33s are 7% larger in diameter than the factory spec 265/65s) or 1+whatever your % increase is.
