Congrats on getting married man. I've been married for a little over 14 years, it's hard work but it's worth it.

Biggest piece of advice I give people is that you don't always have to win an argument. Most of the things you'll argue about end up being so small when you look back at them, so learn to give in some & try to meet in the middle.

Been married, divorced, married again with kids now. Every little bit of that journey was worth it to hear a sweet little voice say "I yuv you Dahh-deee!" for the first time. Legos are as bad as broken glass. Keeping separate checking savings accounts is not only good for arresting financial disputes, but also sound insurance against identity theft and account issues. If one of you gets screwed by a thief, the other still has money somewhere. Be honest and forthcoming, lies will destroy a marriage faster than I can wreck your toilet. Just enjoy each other and keep doing what you always did to get to marriage in the first place. Nothing changes but the title, and your taxable income.

To each their own. We've done separate finances way back when we were young, but have been combined all but the first 3 or so years. Separate led us to issues, so many things to get picky about. Who pays for what and why. We are combined, but it might be easier as we have not lived payday to payday in a long time. If one of us is going to spend more than a hundred or so, we discuss it.

2 great pieces of advice I've read.... You don't need to win all arguments. It's an "US" world, not a me world. Don't lie. A lie has a funny way of comin back and biting you.

31q+ years for us. My advice.... Be a good human to people around you, and treat her like you want to be treated. Don't be a dick. Spending many days with a best friend can be such a great time. Enjoy it every day because you just never know.....
