Guys, are we sure we're not being trolled? These posts sound EXACTLY like what someone would say if they were trolling us.

thank you cruiser for your concern but unfortunately I don't even understand what the term "trolling" refers to? I own a 2002 Toyota Tacoma and I am I wanting to lift it but am in a difficult position because its basically 2WD. There are not many options for a 2WD version. I am a newbie to this site and to lifts in general. Although about 15 years ago I owned a Ford F250 and had a 6" procomp lift installed on it and ran 35's. It was sweet. But had to sell it for economic reasons. Now I own this Taco and love it. I am 45 years old and have a 2 year old son who is in love with monster trucks and so I thought why not make dads truck into one so I can be his hero. Sounds a little sappy I know but I do love my boy. So unfortunately I have champagne taste and a beer budget, as they say, but I am trying my best to do what I can. I am not very knowledgable when it comes to working on autos but both my brother and my dad are and have all the equipment needed to do an install myself (except for a press, may have to take that to a pro). So any and all info offered here is very much appreciated.

Fabtech makes a 6” lift and if you really want 7” do a one inch body lift... If you put 35s on it drive it around and if it feels too slow re-gear it.

Thanks snowboard. Someone else mentioned the fabtech lift. I like that much better than the other. I don't understand why they are so freaking expensive compared to same type of lifts for 4WD. I saw another lift for a different vehicle but it looked like almost all the same parts but was half the price? Anyway. Will have to save up a bit more but will be calling fabtech about that one this afternoon.

Looks like the Fabtech lift will work! Really excited. Its about 600 more than the other but worth it to me for the look. With it being a true 6" lift I will definitely get that installed first and then decide if I need the addition body lift. Thanks for the help. I will try to post pics as the process goes along. Until I can get the money saved up I will be spending the next few weeks sanding her down for a paint job.

the fabtec comes with longer front struts instead of using a spacer and factory strut like other kits. it also seems to be the best designed even having the lowered bump stop mounts for the front AND rear of lca (some kits dont come with both. one brand comes with NONE!) the spindle is also nicely made. Oh and the link i posted was for the kit with the "performance" shocks if they are any more expensive. these add up to the costs.

He's only 2. Have him climb in and out on his own as it sits. He'll think it's 'monster' now.

Better yet, learn how to be his hero w/o the need of material things to do it ......... the budget won't matter so much then.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Thanks Devin, snowboard. And Bill, I appreciate the thought. I know that I amF his hero already. The lift is as much for me as it might be for him one day. I plan on passing this truck down to him.
And just to show my starting point here is a picture of my truck currently. I am stripping it down and getting it ready for paint job. image.jpg

Just a few pics of progress. I am 99% done with the prep work. Trimmed up the fender wells to give me more clearance.

3" Toytec spacers, Bilstein 5100s in the back with add a leaf and overloads removed.
Now you just need 3" of lift to clear 35s lol

Damn... you cut those fenders WAAAAAAAY more than needed. they didnt really needed to be trimmed at all with a 6"db. its that inner fender behind the front wheels that will give you the most issues.

Devin. I know it's more than needed. I just like the look. I saw it on this guys truck and decided to do it. My next customization will be to make the doors removable like a jeep Just took her to the paint shop today. Will post pics once she's back and all put together.
