I am shopping for a RTT and been looking at smittybilt RTT 2783, has anyone got one and could provide feedback on it, pro's cons etc, i been researching and seems most RTT share same factory in china, just get rebranded so not sure i am prepared to spend 1500 for one, since mostly be just me traveling.

anyways any feedback would be appreciated.

Look a few threads down for the RTT owners thread. Everything you want to know and more.

I just got one and am very happy with it. I checked it over thoroughly and there is nothing wrong with it that I can see. Everything is cleanly made, no holes in the fabric, no burs in the drilled holes, fabric is very thick, all zippers work perfect and it opens and closes perfectly. I'll be spending a week in it next week so I'll have a better opinion after that. I camp almost every weekend so I could justify a more expensive RTT but I figured I'd try out the smitty to see if I even like a RTT. At $719, it really isn't much more money than some of my other tents paired with sleeping pads, etc. As of right now, I'd say definitely buy it. I did a lot of research and all of the problem people had, seemed to be solved by the Gen 2 they are selling now. Good luck.

I bought mine as well 3 weeks ago, took it out on moab trip for a week of camping on white rim road, and it performed beatifuly, so i am happy, just had to use metal file on some sharp edges to clean it up and then vacuum it, other than that, pretty good investment.

I was out riding the white rim last weekend and sleeping in the cold, hard bed of the Tacoma. Next week should be much better with the RTT.

Just spent 4 consecutive nights in the Smittybilt RTT. Snow, Rain, winds like I've never seen before and temps into the teens all across Utah. The tent performed amazingly and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I can honestly say, it was the best night of sleep I have ever had in the back country and I camp out almost weekly. Glad you found a tent your happy with!

Your information is not correct. There are dozens of factories in China that are manufacturing tents. There are some that do come from the same facility, however, materials and construction can vary even between different brands coming from the same factory. Definitely way more going on than just a different logo being stuck to the side.
