Installing a cat-back system will not affect your warranty.

TRD changed their cat-back system. It is made by the same company that makes the OEM exhaust that is already on your truck. It looks exactly the same except the muffler is smaller and there is TRD on the tip. It is all one long piece like the stock one.

The TRD exhaust is stainless steel has and has a larger diameter tube. My gas mileage increased by 1 mpg after installation.

Ive heard people say their stock wa 2.25, and others claim 2.5
What was your stock tubing size?

Also 1mpg...... isnt that within the realm of weather, tire psi, driving habit, and drive thru/ no drive thru, passeger no passenger difference?

I went to a 3" exhaust and noticed no mpg change LONG TERM

I agree. No catback is adding 1mpg to anything. Its in his head.

My commute to work is 20 miles on back roads. I always keep track of mpg, If my driving includes just commute or also highway, trailer lots of around town.

The month before I traded it I put the factory exhaust back on and mileage dropped by 1 mpg. Say what you will, I am a consistent driver and that's what I experienced!

Far more factors go into fuel economy then your driving consistency. Ambient temperature and humidity levels will have far more of an affect on fuel economy then the exhaust will. There is no MPG gain on a stock Tacoma with the TRD exhaust.

Well I guess the ambient temperature and humidity changed the week I installed the exhaust and stayed in perfect harmony for a year and a half until the week I put the factory one back on, lol!

As far as factory pipe diameter, I have a 2016 now and don't know if the tube demension are the same as the last generation.

If you want to look at it that way to make yourself feel better go ahead.

Point is no mpg is gained from the trd exhaust on a factory truck, else they would have done it from the factory like that. The company spends billions each year trying to increase fuel economy by 1 mpg or less on their vehicles. They scrape every bit they can within legal allowances. Given that the TRD exhaust is 50 state legal and is no bigger than stock anyways, they would have had it come on every tacoma for the extra mpg rating from the EPA.

Not only does it not make physical sense that it would do so, but logically from a financial and buisness standpoint it also wouldnt. Top that off with the lack of proof anywhere even though it has been available for about a decade.

    Its in your head.

CFM flow capability to great at certian cruising rpms. Causes restriction until flow really gets moving due to rpm/cfm increases.

'05 to....somewhere before '09 they were 2.25" catbacks. I know that by '09 they were 2.5" from the factory.

Installed this TRD cat back exhaust. I definitely feel an increased throttle response. The sound is a nice low rumble. Nothing too crazy and obnoxious.

Good to hear about the throttle response, I'm debating on getting one myself for my 16' I also noticed this when i had installed the TRD exhaust on my 13'. Noticed any other differences as far as the way the truck drives with the automatic transmission?

No differences really. Just the usual 3rd gen automatic transmission bs ( But ETC mode is way better ). Hunting for what gear to be in and sluggish in low gear. Going to get the the ReV-1 programming done next service.
