I've only done car tires, but it's not hard, once you remember to use the bead groove in the center of the wheel.

I've heard of people using airsoft pellets. Same idea just you would use a lot more of them compared to anything steel or ceramic.

Every tire takes a different amount of weight when you mount them, so having a standard "5oz per tire" doesn't seem right to me. Best bet is to mount them, have them spin tested for how much weight each individual tire needs, then dismount, add in beads, then remount.

People have had better luck with the harbor frieght winch...

Ive had winches on every 4 wheeler my family has ever owned... never any mechanical issues... you do still have to pull them apart and clean them and lube every 6 months or so...

Since we're talking about it, I don't believe in beads either but mostly because I don't understand how they can balance the wheel....Anyone feel like explaining to me?

Why is this relevant? Were they harbor freight winches?

According to Dyna-beads, centripetal force movrs the beads outward toward the tread, and by nature the loose beads will work their way toward a point of imbalance where they will stay. Any extra beads that are not needed to counteract an imbalance will distribute themselves around the tread area evenly. Their website has guidelines for how much weight based on tire size and type, so it is not a once size fits all approach. Obviously even identical tires of the same size and type can require varying amounts of lead weights to balance, so I believe their recommendations err on the side of slightly more than required in a worst case scenario. I used them in my 275/55r20s, but the lower the aspect ratio of the tire, the less effective the beads are, and in my case they recommended leaving the lead weights on and using the beads as a way of keeping them in balance as they wore, for rocks stuck in the tread, etc.

Not that I really care, but for argument's sake. People have also had better luck with smittybuilt winches. It's very vague to say that. Dude's excited he got a new winch. I would be doing backflips if I had one. Don't piss in his cheerios.

I have one now. Had to use it a half dozen times already. No issues.
My previous ride, '92 Forerunner on 35's had a SmittyBilt as well. I used hundreds of times with no issues.

Of course, you need to care for and maintain them, like everything else mechanical. You treat it nice, it will treat you nice.

Same one I am getting. For that price with synthetic line, you can't beat it. I do not plan on using it every day, so no point in spending more than double on a Warn. Some thing I will by from HF, but anything electric is not one of them.
