Started demo today on the house. The wall connecting the living room to the kitchen/ dining rooms coming out. Going to probably put a timber beam running along where it was.

Here's the plans for the kitchen:

Basically flipping the current layout and adding a island. Only change from the rendering is we added the half cabinets above the fridge, and the two cabinets on either side of the window will be window paneled. Going with a white shaker.

It doesn't look to be by the lack of header beam in the door frame out.

Nope it's not bearing, truss roof. The timber beam will be functional, but I'm mostly putting it up for aesthetics.

Today's task for me involved trying to figure out a way to re-glue some cabinet veneers that had lost their bond around a wall convection / steamer unit in a kitchen that was part of a huge reno I did for these clients 10 years ago

The cabinets are Bird's Eye Maple and the strips seemed well bonded in some areas but lifted near the ends , I didn't want to risk tearing them to remove and fully re-install them but the fixed fillers around the fridge , microwave and convection steamer made clamping the strips a challenge .

I ended up removing the doors of the cabinets above and below and made a couple plywood strongbacks that I would be able to use wedges against , I removed the hinge plates in the upper and lower cabinets and screwed the strongbacks to the cabinets where the hinge plates will cover the new holes later

I'm curious to know what glue you use on veneer repair.

I used some Titebond 3 , I've repaired a similar area and it is still solidly bonded plus I wanted to be able to clean up any squeeze out easily . The residual glue on the facing seems to give the glue a decent purchase and the fillers are MDF

We have a couple at the hospital. Ronald McDonald house (nice unit, easy to work on) The other was in the Physicians Resource Center, just crapped out about a month ago. I'm sure they'll get another.

Parents bought a new house a few weeks back, slowly been getting moved in but decided to repaint my walls and build a bed that fit the room a little bit better.
Decided to tackle the paint first (I hate taping and painting).
Started taping off the ceiling and realized that the tape was pulling the texture off of the ceiling so I went ahead and taped the baseboards and started scraping the ceiling before I put new paint on the walls.

Got partway through scraping the ceiling this morning and I found a paint bubble on the wall, so I picked at it a little bit before I sanded it down and sheets of paint started coming off so I ended up having to scrape the walls as well as the ceiling.
Gotta refinish the walls, add a power outlet and punch a small hole in the wall for cable before I start painting and new carpet is supposed to arrive Tuesday.

This morning I was planning on having it done before the new carpet went in but that's not gonna happen.
