Calm down I was referring to access behind the tail light, which was asked about.

I also stated to fix it right will cost a lot more than your $150 deductible. A Tacoma bed side installed and painted will run you a few grand. This would be the correct way. On an older truck a pdr guy could get dents out therefor limiting amount of body fill/work and still would need bed side painted.

Oh I know it would cost more than my deductible to get it repaired. But I have never dealt with body work before nor have I dealt with filing insurance claims. I don't want to file a claim and find out that they will only cover one part of it (dent removal or paint touch up) and then I have to pay for the other one. And on top of that, I've read that comprehensive claims aren't guaranteed to not up your premium. So I am very hesitant to file because I haven't a doubt in my mind that an insurance company will do their best to deny coverage and/or up premiums.

If you pay the $150 deductible the insurance will take care of everything - dent, paint, new TRD decall etc..
If you go to a PDR guy he will only push the dent out, and since it appears slightly creased he will not be able to get it 100% out. The paint will still need work, and the PDR guy will charge you at least $150 for his work. I have used PDR before - there is a place and time for that, but not this dent.
I would say either leave it the way it is or pay the $150 deductible and get it all fixed up right.

You sound like you're speaking from experience. Something which I have zero in this regard. So if what you say is right, then it definitely seems worth it to go through insurance. As long as they will cover all that needs to be done, I don't mind. It's why I have comprehensive.

    Absolutely in this case.
Just confirm with them that your premiums won't go up because of this claim - It should not since you are not at fault, but all insurance companies are different.

Also, check you light to make sure it was not damaged/cracked. Being so close to the impact it is possible. Insurance will replace that also if it is the case.

The light looks good. Now that I've seen it in the daylight, this is what the damage is. There is paint missing just next to the light, but the light itself appears untouched, or at least undamaged.

PDR will not be able to get that out. There are creases where the paint is flaked off. They can only work on "smooth" dents, like hail damage type dents.

I have a $500 deductible, so for me it would be a little different decision, but if your deductible is only $150 I would do the insurance.

Ah so it's even more of a no-brainer, going through insurance. I'll look into that now.

Yeah I think that's the only logical solution. And while I'm at it, I should convert to a SFA and rock 40s. Crawl box and a full cage couldn't hurt either.

Last night 10pm to 1am: finished wire brushing the rear 1/3 of the truck. used paint brush to apply phosphoric acid based rust converter.
Sprayed phosphoric acid in the boxed parts of the frame (not many in the rear 1/3). Also did the tow bar and rear bumper.
5am to 8:30 this morning: Drank Coffee. Rinsed and washed prepped section. Drank coffee. Resprayed converter in a few blind spots that showed iron oxide when rinsing. Will rerinse in 4 hr and drink coffee. Then I will put a heater and fan under the truck to quickly dry. Painting Chassis Saver tonight (might have to work) or Saturday AM. Then prepping the middle 1/3 of the truck.

Also removed light stains from the front seats with stain remover, dried, and covered with a new seat cover from covercraft. Thinking about buying other products from them and cutting them up to cover the upholstery door panels. This shows I have lost my logic.

It would be nice to apply chassis saver in the blind spots with a brush like is on the cap of a PVC glue bottle. A big fuzball on a flexible wire handle. Do these exist? where can i get one locally? what are they called?

Not sure about that but Eastwood sells a spray wand attachment for chassis saver. Also that Klean Strip prep and Etch is awesome. used it on my sliders.

Agreed, $150 is pretty low to have this fixed right.

Have you found that they correct your alignment numbers to what I've come to understand are the ideal numbers for our lifted trucks @ 0/0/2.5 - 3.0 (Camber/Toe/Caster)? Thanks guys.
