And thanks to guys like you, today is easy AF. And by that I mean guys with Fridays off. All the contractor BS I've been dealing with didn't happen today because they work four 10s, so fridays off mean an easy day for me

I had a sales guy tell me that they ran Baja in a completely stock Tacoma and won, while I was test driving a Tundra and he asked why i would change the TRD suspension out "because there is nothing better". Longer story but that was a fun day belittling him

 

Better trade in for a third gen asap I guess. Why'd I waste all this money on a crappy second gen

Jesus, do you remember that guy a couple years ago who just would NOT SHUT THE FUCK UP about how nothing was as good and OEM Baja suspension because it was SPECIFICALLY ENGINEERED FOR THE TACOMA BY TOYOTA ENGINEERS WHO ENGINEERED IT.

Yeah, they also engineered shit stock suspension notorious for a flimsy vague ride, weak springs, and rusting frames.

I'm just stoked I bought the generation that can survive a meteor strike. Beat that, dirt bike flipping third gens. *hip thrust*

 

I'm totally biased, but I'd go with the RTT & bedrack. Or maybe just bed bars to keep the weight down until you upgrade leaf springs. My truck handled the Flippac fine with the TSB springs, and that's slightly heavier than the RTT/ rack combo. If you're staying with 16" tires, you could upgrade the suspension and tires at the same time and use the stock wheels- depends on what size you're going with. I'm assuming 285/75/16's, but you could stuff 255/85/16's with minor plastic trimming without a lift.

If the intention is to camp more, you probably will with the RTT.

If you eventually want to go with Kings/ Fox/ Icon, but are thinking of doing an intermediate lift before then, I wouldn't buy new. Plenty of 5100's and OME shocks available every time some mofo on here buys new Kings...

Again, I'm totally biased. I set mine up for camping first, explored plenty of easier trails, then started doing more challenging trails as the vehicle became more capable. There were too many intermediate upgrades, purchased new, and I lost a lot of money and time at each phase. Plenty of us on here went the same route.

If you don't already have recovery gear, I'd invest in that too- before suspension. Just check out defconbrix's ig page for reference
