Hey guys I finally got around to painting my truck! I used Scorpion bedliner and metallic gun metal paint. Went from black to Matte MGM. I removed my roof led bar, debadged, and I also removed those HORRID black spyder eBay lights. I understand step one is to maybe do the BHLM or get some retros. What do you all think?

I have plenty of pin stripping so I keep contemplating having it done on mine.

I have always liked the look of bedliner paint jobs but I have never seen a long term analysis of them. Obviously they cant last forever. With paint we simply sand the old coat a bit for the new coat to grip. I think with bedliner you will eventually get cracks or large chips in the coating and will need to grind the whole thing down. That and the fact bedliner doesnt come in Speedway Blue are why I havent done it.

Yeah well the main reason i did it was because first my paint was completely done, i was keyed, had branch rash, hood and roof was done for you could already see metal, the grill was chrome plasti dipped black and the dip was tearing, it really looked terrible.. Second a buddy is a professional dealer for scorpion he did his entire work van few years back and its held up phenomenal N was giving me a steal price so figured what the hell lets try it out its a 10yr old truck that i beat up, dont want a normal paintjob thats just gonna get scratched up again . Ill keep you all updated with time!

My buddy told me it will probably last the life of the truck speaking it has 172k already. He has had his van done for about 4 yrs and its held up perfectly. He said the beauty of it is if you want to change colors just spray right over the existing bedliner. The bedliner i got did not come in this color either, they had ugly colors to choose from. I bought my paint color from "paintwithpearl.com" for $6 a bag i got gunmetal black. There are HUNDREDS of colors to choose from and just mix it with any clear bedliner and youre set! I thought it was a sick investment

Looks good. Definitely gota do the BHLM. Polish the lenses to get rid of the yellowish tint.

Looks good. I'm going to Monstaline my truck once the pin striping gets really bad.

Think it looks good. I think since your original color was black, your door jams and engine bay probably still matched pretty good.

Looks real good. My tailgate is starting to rust and sanded off and ordered paint to match online lasted 2 years and rust is coming through again. I’m thinking of just doing tailgate now and whole truck in the future once the paint gets worse it’s a 2010 with 200k miles so if only last 5 years that might be all I need. But wondering if you think the Bedliner will cover the rust for goood after sanding and treating then with bed liner over it vs paint. I would think it wouldn’t come through the bed liner. Thanks

Looks great to me,and I think the fact the color you picked and black go real good together,so it makes the STILL in black areas of your truck look good.
