    Just choose a good quality hollow point bullet. To me this would include Federal HST, Winchester Ranger, or Speer Gold Dots (I also like other rounds based on this bullet, such as Double Tap offerings). All of these have been designed to offer both adequate penetration/expansion in soft targets yet still allow some effectiveness through glass or auto body.

    Also keep in mind that if you drop the hammer on a hollowpoint, it is going to go through walls and doors (unless you are at Fort Knox). Basically if you pull the trigger within your residence, I would fully expect the round (hp or fmj) to leave the residence (if you miss the target that is).

    Don't over think it. A high quality hollow point will do you just fine. What caliber are we discussing by the way?

    we're talking any caliber really. im just seeing what people thought about this method in general. i have a 9mm and a .380(which i just shot for the first time yesterday so i am not comfortable with it enough to carry yet or use in home protection.)
