I don't know if you need to go to a dealer, any tire shop should be able to handle it for you. You will need new sensors.

If you're buying new sensors you may want to check with Titan. Fast service and good prices, not related to Titan other than a satisfied customer. My local tire shop was able to program the sensors when I switched from Steelies.

Do the new 2016 wheels have the sMe sensors as second gen? I give Americas tire a call

I don't know if they are the same part number, but my 2nd gen sensors fit in my 3rd gen wheels just fine.

Anyone know the part numbers of the sensors for the steelies vs alloy and if alloys are the same part number 2nd gen vs third.
I called America tire. They quoted me 350 for new sensors and installation. And 100 just for installation if I brought in my own sensors. I'm sure I can get them a lot cheaper elsewhere.
And I guess it doesn't really matter if I get oem vs aftermarket?

When I switched from steelies I got my TPMS from here....good service, no issues with the sensors since I put them on.

I wouldn't think it would matter between 2nd and 3rd Gen but don't take that as gospel. When I switched from steelies to alloys I had to buy new sensors. I think there's a couple of posts regarding 3rd Gen wheels on 2nd Gen trucks, you may want to ask someone whose been there and done that

If you have a second gen truck, get second gen sensors. I know they will fit, but third gen sensors may not work with second gen electronics. The third gen has individual tire pressure readouts on the display, so the sensors may be different.

thats a very good point! Thanks. Do you happen to know the factory part numbers for the alloys vs the steelies?

Looks great! I picked up a set of these a few weeks back can't wait to get them on. Just debating on if I want to swap over my current 265 70's or go up to 265 75's..

I'm cheap so until the tires wear out I'm keeping those on there but I plan to upgrade to 265 75's when that day comes. ☺️

I've been on the fence with these wheels. I can get a killer deal on new 4Runner base wheels but can't find pics of them on a 2nd gen.

Has anyone mounted their stock 245/16s on the new off road wheels? I'm curious to see if they fit / look okay.

I have not, but plan to. If everything goes according to plan, I will be picking up a set of 2017 TRD OR rims tomorrow.

Here are a pic of stock tires mounted on 2015 vintage OR rims. It is my understanding the specs of the OR rims have not changed.

Update: I picked up the 2017 OR rims yesterday and they are flawless - taken off at 17 miles. Now I can't decided - should I install them now (right before a harsh Mn winter) or wait until Spring.
