High beams will work when I pull the stalk back to "flash", but push forward and it's a no go.

Bad switch in the stalk? I'm pretty sure this isn't a fuse or relay. But then again, this is why we post up!

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Had this happen in my 93 once. The contacts on the stalk itself were bad. I cleaned them with a nail file and it worked fine. Not sure if the 04 would be the same.

Your relay sounds good since your highs do work.

Thanks, I'm good with mechanical, not electrical. I'm not afraid to try though...

Sounds like a classic case of low High Beam fluid :D.

All kidding aside....sounds like the switch for sure.

Nah fluid was fine, I'll check the switch.

But I'm leaning strongly towards a leaky beam gasket or a clogged photon collector.

If you start getting into the muffler bearing...you've gone too far.

;)Alright so I have a new multi function switch on order. $130 from Toyota Dallas.

Question now is this. My Haynes says to remove the steering wheel, then to remove the column covers. Can I remove the covers w/o removing the wheel? It seems doable if I turn the wheel to expose the screws behind the wheel. It's a first gen. (04) Just in case my userid isn't clear.;)

I'm not sure. Try it and see what happens. Worst case, you have to take the wheel off.

Ok so I'm no regular Youtuber or anything but I found and fixed the problem with the switch, and made a few short videos to boot.

A few things. It took all of 15 minutes and $130.00 for the switch from Toyota of Dallas. A dealer closer to me wanted 200 for the part and 200 in labor, and said it took an hour (maybe an hour minimum in labor). They did do a great job and had a great price for my timing belt and a ton of associated maintenance. But that was ridiculous.

So here are the videos. I'm no Spielberg...
