So from what I read you don't have a rear locker. Isn't it always better to have a rear locker vs a front?
I appreciate going this route but for $1400 and then $500 for it to be assembled is mad. I guess if you have disposable income cool. I think a rear elocker would've been about $300-500.

Only rear e-locker currently offered for the Tacoma is the factory elocker, which isn't as strong of a diff as the 8.4". Plus trying to wire it up with the harness and control box would be a pain. Otherwise I would have had to go ARB which is $950 plus install.

I already had a Truetrac in my rear from a previous truck and swapped it into my truck before I sold the other one. I figured it'd be better to have LSD rear, locker front, then locker rear, open front.

I've been told that Harrop is currently designing their elocker for the rear 8.4". Eventually, I may buy one.

Most of FL is mud and sand, and spinning all 4 helps everywhere, which it will as long as the rear doesn't lift a tire completely. The Truetrac can lock up a bit if you lift a tire by applying some ebrake

So, the install is fairly straightforward. There is a little bit of grinding that has to be done to clear the electromagnet, and also a couple spots that holds a locking ring in place. ECGS did the install within a couple of days.

    Thanks, Sean!!

Here are some images if it helps. Also, a 4WD Toyota Owner Mag article by my partner for his 100 Series front.

Happy to email installation directions if anyone is interested.

I wonder if there's an OEM style switch for a front e locker. It would look nice next to my rear locker...

Or, you could swap in an 80/100 Series two-locker rotary switch into the clock panel in first generation Tacomas.

We have a box of these and include one when requested...second photo shows one installed in my BJ 73. It has two Harrops and works well with one switch. Hand goes easily to single switch - no hunting/looking. Also a safety feature, as I never want to have my front actuated without the rear engaged as well.

Still haven't installed this. Got with my mechanic today, just waiting on free time. I'm also waiting for my LCE header so I can install both at the same time

Here is the installation booklet for Harrop ELockers.

    It is pretty simple.

Also, we have several shops that will take your carrier/clamshell via Fed Ex and set up your elockers, then return them via Fed Ex. Diff rebuilds and gear swaps also supported.

    HTH!

ECGS will also do it. Mine is the first one they've done of the 7.5 clamshell, but they didn't have any issues with install. I'm excited to get this installed. It's been way too long since I've been able to use 4wd

    One last thing...

I don't want to crap up Sean's thread, but here is the fitment guide for the Harrops.

We will start a product thread after TW lets us in as a vendor :)

Thanks for your interest and support.

NOTE: Fitment guide updated on September 30, 2016 as attached.

    Sean -
If you want to add an indicator light, I think you can put a 12 volt inline indicator in the circuit to show when Harrop is actuated.

For first/second generation Tacoma owners that want to lock the rear, there are two housings and two options:

    1. If you have the OEM factory elocker and want to replace it with the 8" Harrop, my gear guru tells me that it is possible to fit a Harrop with use of a non-elocker carrier, with some minor mods to the housing - drilling a new hold and filling an unused hole - in fitting the carrier housing to the axle housing.

    2. If you have the 8.4" 12 bolt carrier, Harrop does not have a unit for our North American trucks.......yet. We shipped a carrier to Harrop and engineering is complete and the first test unit is in development for installation in my 2002 SR5. We expect to have a production run completed early in the new year and are taking reservations for first-round purchasers.

Pricing for the new rear is expected to be $1,314, which is the new price for the front 7.5" unit that you got, Sean. I will process a refund of the price reduction, which you should see this weekend.

If you have questions or want to chat about the product, installation, etc. shoot me an email at info@cruiserbrothers.com. Also, keep an eye out for our new website - www.yotalockers.com - which will be an online center for Harrop/Eaton information and purchases. We are also establishing resale/install relationships with shops around the country.

Site should be up in a week or so :)
