I ended up going with a tan topper. I haven't seen too many pictures of this combination yet so here you go....

received my topper today and got it installed. is this height right? all the other trucks seem to be cab height

 

I just installed mine today as well and mine goes all the way to the top of the cab it actually covers the high mount stop light but mines a 2nd gen maybe that's how the 1st gens are

 

Had to do something in the garage this morning and when I saw this I noticed myself smiling.

 

Mine is cab height, did you sinch down the corner straps too much?

 

Hahaha that's funny I do the same shit when I see my truck with the soft topper on I love it, and I can't wait to try camping in it

 

the straps are snug but not overly tight. the topper is 3-1/4" below the roof height. some say i have the strength of 2 small men but i don't think i could since them down that much, especially without something breaking. the top of the topper is level the whole length of it. are 2nd gen double cab beds the length and width as a first gen? I'm wandering if this is a topper for a 2nd gen? can one of you 2nd geners measure your bed and the height of you topper for me? it would be greatly appreciated.

 

ok so mine is 72/73in long and about 20 in high. This is almost exactly flush with the roof of cab.

 

Hopefully that's helpful, it was definitely weird trying to take the pic with the tape it may look like it's overr the topp of the ST but it's just the angle it's totally flush

 

yup, mines 19-1/2' - 20" too. pretty sure they sent me a topper for a 2nd gen. thanks for the measurements jon! I'm kinda pissed because now I'm going to have to find time take this one apart and package it up to send it back, then I'm going to have to assemble the new one.

 

I'm not bagging on you or anything, but did you tell them what year Tacoma? I forgot to tell them I have a double cab until a little voice made me double check with them. They might have just assumed it was a second gen since they dominate the roads nowdays. Granted they still should have asked, but could have just been a miscommunication.

Also the red and tan looks badass

 

Thats a terrible fit man. I would not be happy at all.
Mine is sitting here at the ups hub and it will be delivered tommorow and maybe put on by wed.
I certainly hope my 1st gen doublecab doesnt fit like that.

Ill take some measurments when i get it on.

They all look pretty level to the roof line.

 

Mine fits great on my double cab 1st gen, hopefully Moto's issue was just a fluke and gets taken care of
