It was fine on Sunday, I locked it with the remote that night. On Monday, the remote would not unlock the truck. I can open the door with the key, but the horn sounds and the truck will not start. I checked the battery in the remote, its good. I replace the battery with a new one. No GO!. I did notice last night, When I press the button on the remote the red LED blinks on the remote. The blue LED on the bottom of the dash light blinks three time, but it's not related to the remote. How do I fix this? If I pull the battery, will that reset the alarm? Will I be able use the truck with the key if I never use the remote? How do I disable or retrain the alarm?

Here is my other problem, the AC control has gone bunkers. It has been a problem for 4 months. The heater turns on if you hit a bump or rough road. You are just cruzing down the road, and snap! the heat is on cook your A. The control can be in any position or off. It has to be the blend door. To unscrew yourself , you move the temperature control dial up to the center position, and return it the the cold position. It used to only take one shot, but now you might spend five min doing this manuver. It's easier to tell if you are successful with the AC on. The temp will dorp in two seconds. How do I fix this problem in case I can get my truck started?

I'd say focus on getting the truck started first. Have you tried disconnecting the alarm from the batt to rule out that possibility?

I do not know how to do that. Also if I pull the battery will the radio stop working?
On some GM cars, if you lose power for too long you will have to input a special code to rervive it.

Blue Dash light? Sounds like an aftermarket alarm is causing some issues for your electrical system.

    Check Build thread
The alarm is most likely wired to the starter.

I can unlock my truck for example through a key from the door, the alarm sounds, hit unlock inside to get it to stop but without hitting unlock on the wireless entry remote it won’t let me start it.

Try to fix that remote, new batteries maybe? Or completely disconnect the alarm and give that a try.

Is your stereo stock? On my 99 and 2011 tacoma i constantly disconnected the battery to install upgrades, stock stereo would reset the pre-saved settings but never did it stop working. It sounds like your issues are alarm related, possibly even a kill switch integrated in there somewhere. Best thing to do is disconnect anything having to do with your alarm first and go from there.

Yep the radio is stock. I assume that the alarm is factory. It uses the std Toyota remote, and sounds the horn, no sirien

Figure out the type of security system you have. Get the model number or whatever off the alarm computer box. Hopefully it's just installed under the seat (easy to check there), but could be behind the dash somewhere. Then get a copy of the manual for that alarm online. There should be a way to manually override it, like by putting the key in and turning it on and off several times and/or pressing a button on the alarm box. Once you have the alarm model you can search online for info. Toyota did have factory alarms, some dealer installed.

If it's the dealer installed KARR alarm (blue flashing LED to the lower left of the steering wheel), if you hold the button down on the LED light assembly for 3 seconds (I think, maybe more) it should disable the alarm.

    Well I have an update.
The alarm does have a blue LED on the bottom of the dash, but it is aftermarket.
Its a strange problem. The alarm is integrated into the wiring harness in a bunch of places.
The door locks, horn, power, ignition,
The way it works is when you unlock the door it turns off the alarm. When you use the remote to lock the doors it turns on the alarm. When you start to drive, it locks the doors. when u turn off the motor it unlocks the doors. If u cycle the power it turns off the alarm, but if you lock the doors it turns on the alarm. If you lock the drivers door with a key it turns on the alarm. This is because if u lock the door with the key on the divers side, it electically locks the door on the pass side which trips the alarm.

The problem is when you unlock the door with a key its just mechnical and does not turn off the alarm!
Its a clever design! It works with your std fob right. I need a new fob. The good news is if u unplug the alarm u can drive the truck. When i get the new one setup, I will plug it back in.

Well that sucks. But this is usually why I don't mess with aftermarket alarms. I always stick with factory.

I don't think those lock features are tied to the alarm. You can customize your door locks to several configurations using the Toyota Tech Stream software.

I'm willing to bet, if you remove the alarm system, the door locks will still function the same way.

Just get rid of the alarm. No one pays any attention to car alarms going off. In fact, every time I hear one go off, I think someone triggered it to create some cover noise when breaking into a house.

The "factory" alarms back for the 1st gens were all aftermarket alarms installed by the dealers.

I am glad I don`t live where I need to have a alarm.

No one pays attention to them going off even the police

So the secerikey+ is actually aftermarket and not associated with Toyota in anyway.
