Recently I discovered that after replacing the O2 sensor I was still getting the check engine light to come "ON " with the same P0137 error....but ONLY when I turned on the heat or A/C...So... to experiment.... I removed the heater relay from the engine compartment fuse box and the check engine light and P0137 has not returned.

Does anyone know how can it be...that the heater relay would cause this to happen.

It shouldn't. Reinstall the relay and see if it comes back.

The heater relay is in no way tied to the emissions system.

Maybe not...but as,soon as, I re-install the relay ando turn the fan on for heat or A/C the check engine light comes on and I get the P0137 O2 sensor error code.

I have ordered a new relay and hope that it will stop
once I install it. I've been driving for an entire day without it and I'm not getting the check engine light.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
You removed the AC Heater relay or the AF Heater relay?

I removed the one that is labeled HEATER ON the inside cover of the fuse box such that the blower fan for heat or A/C will not work....3rd day already and the check engine light has not come on...I will not receive the new relay I ordered until this Thursday and hope this will resolve this problem.

Definitely interested in the outcome. Did you get the code with the relay installed and without running the blower motor?

I replaced the HEATER relay that activates the blower motor for the heat and A/C and as,of today Oct 1, 2016 the engine check light has not come on and no P0137 O2 sensor error.

Keeping in mind that the use of the heat or A/C the idle is automatically adjusted it appears that it has an effect on the electrical adjustment to the sensors causing an error.

From what I've read you cannot literally interpret these errors as a malfunction of that component as I've discovered in replacing the downstream O2 sensor when somehow this relay was the component responsible for that error.

In response to your first question....I got the error when I would turn on the heat or A/C knob to activate the blower fan

I have, replaced the HEATER relay and no check engine light has come on....and no P0137 O2 sensor error.

CHECK YOUR RELAYS BEFORE REPLACING SENSORS.
