I have a 10 underseat sub. Bumps hard and sounds good with the correct settings from my head unit. It can rattle the truck when turned all the way up and its out of sight so no one will think of breaking in and stealing it. Out of the way too with the limited space of a ext. cab

Wow I know it's your trucks frame but I think you may be doing a little over thinking lol. Honestly how bad is the fame?

If it's all solid then just prep it as good as you can and paint it. I wouldn't worry if you get it to thick in hard to reach spots or whatever. At least it's on there. And you talk about added stuff to the frame before using chassis saver??? I thought you are not suppose to do that?? Just wire brush everything as good as you can. It may take a day or too or longer since you don't have the access that i did. Then paint it. Not sure if a rag would work very well or not. We just used cheap brushes. And are you worinf about getting the stuff on the underneath of the cab? We painted that too. Just sanded it then painted.

DO NOT GET IT ON ANY BOLTS, NUTS,ETC CAUSE YOU PROBABLY WONT BE ABLE TO GET THEM OFF IF YOU DO.

I can't comment much on the inside of the frame. If you look at my build there was a half a bucket full of dirt and rust in the box framed part. We did not do anything to the inside. Mostly because the frame has another new plate of steel from the front cab mount back. And with this and the chassis saver the frame will probably outlast the time I have the truck, which will be for a long time.

I don't know if I would worry about the inside unless you can punch a hammer through the frame in multiple places.

Yeah you're gonna have to repaint the whole bedside. Paint pens should only be used for spots or very minuscule scratches that go through the paint.

Which did you go with? The ones I've heard in person were not actually a true sub, basically a large speaker. And I'm not trying to rattle my windows off but some more low end would be nice. There's just not a lot of options for the first gens because the entire cab is used space already

Right!? I know it would be my third seat swap but I got offered a brand new Sparco today for cheap and I'm wondering if I could get over having two different seats. The comfort is just so amazing though.

Yeah I'm learning it's not so simple of a job. It'll be cheaper going through insurance. So that's what I'm doing.

Yesterday, swapped plugs for Densos, swapped the egr vsv for new 50 buck Aisin vsv(Devin, the OEM was Aisin, you nailed it) bye bye P0402, clean the MAF sensor, installed AVS window shades/vents, and installed a pioneer HD radio/Bluetooth unit.

Yeah this one is a powered sub and hits like one too. Comes with a little knob too to adjust the loudness. I've had it for a couple years and love it

Probably damn loud. One is enough for me! I don't know how it would work since you'd have to hook up both directly too the battery. Might draw too much power. Unlike 1 amp for 2 subs this would be 2 amps for 2 subs.

Thanks so much for the feedback.

OK, thanks for talking sense into me. The frame is real good. I looked for 3 years for a low milage low rust 4 door gen 1. it is very superficial rust except for maybe 5 spots totaling 13 sq inches that are slightly pitted but not in a way to reduce strength.

Ohh man, glad you said that.

Boxed sections are solid. I just didnt want to seal in any rust.

OK good. It was a worried because everyone said it needed to be thin.

    Great info

Without removing the cab and bed i really could not access the crevices. Started using phosphoric acid for the crevices an blind spots on only a few spots and well you know manliness.... i kept going. But that is really it. I painted last year, the week after buying it, with rust reformer. but that was intended to only be temporary. (it held on amazingly well)

I had money in hand for the 2016. It was clear in the first 5 min of the test drive that I will never be able to buy new trucks or cars. they are too electronic and too plastic. So i plan to make my 2004 last forever. I know you can not paint over fluid film... so I planed to paint everything this fall. But i am glad to hear you think i am overdoing it. That might help me get this done this weekend. Thanks for the advice.

I was planning to use some other paint on the parts of the body that i am worried about getting rust on. (near wheel wells where dirt tends to build up) But i really have not researched this. Do you feel chassis saver is suitable for these areas? If so, that would safe a butt load of time.
