    Hello all,
I am in need of a Promo Long travel kit(front and rear for a 2016 Tacoma double cab TRD 4x4).
I know, we all are in need of a "Promo" kit, but I have a well known Fiberglass producer who wants my truck to build fenders for free as he doesn't have them yet and he has high interest. I had plans to eventually purchase a TC plus 2 kit (willing to go bigger), but I will not be able to meet the deadline of when he needs my truck.
I am looking for any well known Fabrication and Build shops with a good rep that would be willing to help out. I know this sounds like the standard "give me something for free" plea, but I believe there is a good opportunity here to come up with an agreement between suspension, shocks, and tire manufactures that would benefit everybody(advertising, promo, etc.) to get a 2016 out there with good high quality glass that follows factory lines and uses factory rear taillights and also spotlight the other components that create the need for fiberglass fenders. I know sema is coming up and the timing of this request is not ideal, but any help/advice/recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Are you saying you have a spot on the floor at SEMA?

Because otherwise, giving you $20,000 in product doesn't give them anymore advertising than selling that same product to a paying customer...

And it's not Glassworks, is it? You might be waiting a while on that glass if it is. :crapstorm:

Why do you need a long travel kit to build fenders? Any company capable of building good glass won't need a long travel kit to build a set of fenders.+4" is plus +4" regardless of suspension. You'll also notice all the suspension manufacturers either bought their own 2016 truck or sold the first kit at a discounted price.

The one peice of advice I can give you and have given to many looking for handouts in the automotive industry in the past is to build a portfolio with a profesional rendering of your build, timeline for the build, detailed list of plans, and all the same info from your past builds and references from previous sponsors. Even with all that your chances are slim to none, but without past builds and no money on your end it probably won't happen. No ones looking to put time and money into someone's build who isn't investing their own money.

As far as sema goes, you'll need proof that your spot is paid for and locked in. A spot at sema can cost more than a lt kit.

I also don't see a suspension company giving you 10k in parts so you can obtain 1k in fenders.

    @McNeilRacingInc and @JT@Bajakits

But, it won't be cheap and it sure as hell won't be free. I have $20K and change last I did my math in my truck between suspension, fender, paint, armor, lights, and other misc parts. Good luck in finding a generous soul to donate that kind of money. Your last name better be Andretti.

This is good news, @Uncle Creepy has inspired me to donate. I've got some used light bulbs that probably won't be of any good use but pay for shipping and they are yours .

:frusty: Thank you for your straight to the point and brutally honest replies, I deserve it.
I realize I was basically begging for free stuff, and I realize I was going about it backwards. @glorifiedwelder is right, and perhaps I didn't explain well enough. I am willing to put out my own funds, I just cant make it happen a short timeframe. As far as building fenders without a LT installed, the manufacture I'm talking to said he can do it and has done it, but prefers not to. I had an offer literally fall into my lap this weekend with a deadline attached, and I was shooting for the stars hoping for a miracle( a hail Mary so to speak).

In regards to Sema, I wasn't trying to imply I had a spot or an offer for one. I meant to imply that I understand the off road industry as a whole is focused on finishing up their projects and deadlines for this year, in respect to getting any help with my pipedream.

The company in question for the offer is not glassworks.. @Mxpatriot, I hope they get you taken care of.

AND besides, it looks like @perpetualenigma 3 beat me to the punch any way. I saw JTs post from Baja kits and sent him an email as the thread looked like it had kind of died off. ( sent before I posted this) I was hinging my bets on him. perpetualenigma, are you in the San Diego area? I think I saw your truck somewhere on social media when McNiel had it doing the Glass. Did you get the rear bed panels too? I would love to be able to see your truck in person.

:( Hanging my head in shame

@anthony250f I'm not looking to do anything extreme. I want a truck that is a good all a round performer, something that can move along at a decent pace between more technical terrain. I have no desire to do 70mph in 5' whoops, but rather a mild LT kit like a plus 2 on 285s to start for more articulation up front in technical terrain( Moab, Corral Canyon, etc.) and do decent speeds on two track, roads , washes, and rolling bumps in between. I want a matching rear end which can be accomplished with one of the spring under kits on the market. I came to this conclusion when down in Baja recently. I was on a coastal run from Ensenada to San Quintin that had some faster sections in between the canyons that run out to the beach. We were on a couple sections of old Score racecourse here and there as well. With that being said, I know its not cheap ( and you get what you pay for where quality is concerned). I have looked at a complete setup such as the TC plus 2 kit with their spring under for the rear and it can be done for less than 20K. A kit like the TC is appealing as well because of limited fabrication( for the spring under) and a mostly bolt on instillation. At the risk of more "peer counseling" because of my initial post, I'll admit I cannot write a check for full retail on that goal right now. I'll discuss actual numbers in private if you have some suggestions, but I'm not throwing out numbers in the open forum. I've already put my foot way to far in my mouth already.

Yea unfortunately the off road truck business is a cash up front (or mastercard!) kind of deal.

To be frank, if you don't own the truck outright and you aren't paying cash for the parts, you're going to have a miserable time when something goes wrong and you don't have the coin to get an otherwise amazing truck to work the next Monday.

It's an expensive game. Those of us who have been here a while and have seen many guys jump into this game too fast, dump their savings, and be posting up a half built truck for sale nine months later when they're so upside down on it they can't sustain it anymore.

If I had a new 2016, I would build it up mildly and enjoy it on the highway and maintained dirt roads. Buy an already built first or second gen truck for about the same coin you are talking to build your 2016 and you will be far happier with a nice DD and a dedicated toy.

Like he said. Can't go wrong for a little more than a good LT setup:

No actually I live in Texas, but my truck is in Anehiem right now getting worked on. No I haven't purchased the rear quaters yet, I promised my wife I'd let her order me those for Christmas. Happy wife happy life. Well, I'll be over in California when my truck is done. I might stay a few days, I hear you guys have some pretty nice off road parks. I'll still have to get back soon to get the front and rear gears installed plus a bed cage and some through the bed 16" Triple Bypass King 3.0s. I might be selling my King 2.5s after I get the truck back so keep an eye out for those. Just incase you still want to start on your truck.

Words of wisdom here. I have used my MasterCard so much in the last few months that I have actually come to memorize all the information on my card.
Just to kick a dead horse one last time and reinforce what @Mxpatriot said my "Toy Fund" has or had $60k when I started building my toy and that is completely seperate from any savings, checking, retirement, ect... Really just think it over, not trying to discourage you by any means just like Mxpatriot said, I'd hate to see you in neck deep with out a way out. Good luck either way hope you do get your truck built to your liking, and post picks here soon.
