Yeppers, I've worked on localizers, glidepaths, NDB's VORs TACAN's and VDF's for the last 15 years.

VOR: That would be the marathon VOR

In Canada it seems we are moving away from VOR to GPS. But the ILS particular CAT II and III will be around for a long time.

... ^^^ ... Love the sound of a radial and the oil spitting from it in your face ... out front on final ... listening to it hummmmm ... :)

This was taken with an iPhone (no telephoto lens) so i was pretty far out there ... no "wing walking" that day though ... :D

I do have an older buddy who still "wing walks" at some of the air shows ...

I got to follow all 6 Blue Angles in formation on final into Oakland today. Then I got to taxi behind them! :woot: Yes, my windshield is filthy. It rained and then I am pretty sure I flew through a dust storm.

Got to work this morning and the #7 Blue Angel was sitting about 100 feet from my plane. They were setting up for a press flight.

So yeah, we wen to the Cap City Airshow Saturday. Couldn't go all day, because of the kid/naps, had to make a choice, early (WW2 Commemoration w/all kinds of stuff flying, including FiFi) or late (Blue Angels), I chose late. Mom is dragging ass, we finally get out there and the Gold Knights are doing their thing, so I know we've missed everything but the jet car (who gives a fuck ) and the Blue Angels. I notice a fair number of people heading into the parking lot, but I didn't think to ask anyone about it before we were through the gate. Start looking around, and learn that the Blue Angels bailed because lead had food poisoning.

At least we got to sit in massive traffic lines crawling to get out.

The Show management sends out email that night saying they'll honor Sat tickets on Sunday, and the Blues should fly then.

Too little, to late. My fragile, precious daddy weekend schedule window had closed, and theoretically there would be about 1.5 times as many people in the crowd who could make it back. No fucking thanks.

    Complete.

    Fucking.

    Disaster.

But that's OK, Justin. You keep posting those goddamn pictures. Don't worry about me. I'm not bitter.

    :rofl::rofl:

Total bummer dude. I had that happen to me once too... sucks (minus the kid of course).

Apparently one of them had a gear issue yesterday and ATC was stacking airliners in holding patterns so they could get the Blues into Oakland.

Their jets are beyond fixing. They're just limping them along till they transition to Super Hornets (hopefully) next season. Not to mention, last time I heard, they were getting brand new Super Hornets. Not old fleet jets.

The sad part is I've seen so many military demo shows at Reno, but only the Blues once, and that didn't really count, because we were too busy fixing our Sea Fury for the next race.

And frankly, I think I would have rather seen the WW2 show. Avenger, Dauntless, Corsair, P40, an actual Japanese Kate (I think), 2 B-25s, a P38, and a couple Mustangs, plus the B29. These things won't be around forever....and you can't beat those noises. Not even jets, sorry.

That would awesome to get new jets. I bet the performance would be even better with Supers.
Will I ever see you in the rotation?
