I like how Tim added the spacer tubes, I don't think it's ugly either.
I need to point out that Toyota designed the suspension so springs go negative arch and so does OME as seen by their negatively arched overloads.
Also, the shackle flip does not decrease up travel from axle location at rest, up travel is limtied by spring, shock, bumps.
What I'm saying is if you convert to spring under the axle giving you much more positive arch, you would not limit up travel due to the negative arch imagined limit. The shackle flip wouldn't limit it, the axle hitting the frame or bumps would

 

I concur. However, Toyota and OME didn't design them for compression shackle application either. I think that's worth mentioning.

So what your saying is, shackle flip is not responsible for loss of up travel, it's the springs, shock, and bumps..? Is that right?

I'm going to ignore your SUA comment for the moment since we're not discussing SUA.

What about Tim's case above? Springs over axle.

After shackle flip he is increasing the bump stop height to compensate.

So what's the point? What's the net result here?

Does flipping the shackle not trade up travel for down travel?

It sure seems that way to me.

Did a little more forklift flexing, and measuring yesterday. Then, after talking with Eric on the phone, decided to remove the bump extensions.

why did you remove the extension?

 

Just didn't need them.

 

So you didn't adjust bump height at all?

 

Would the new design be used for Heavy Duty Alcan springs? Or would the utilize the old two holes? Just bought a used spring pack and am on my way to doing this.

 

I just had my first customer with extra capacity Alcans and they seemed to work out with same shackle angle as AllPro's

The first pic here is of the Alcans and 4" stainless shackles showing a solid 30 degrees in rearmost position, so the middle position would set angle to ~45 degrees, so you would use the factory rivet holes for 30 and 45deg.

Cory wanted another 1" of lift, so he is the first to install my 6" plain steel shackles, the second picture

Has anyone done this with stock springs yet? Or is there even a point? Would like to gain an inch without aal or block and some extra droop wouldn't hurt. But like someone said not if I lose stuffed. I'm not great at suspension dynamics but feel like the shackle may be able to kick back enough to get stock up travel but drop more with correct shock length/placement

Ok. Got them on. Used @ARCHIVE Eric's template he sent me for the updated Dakar holes. (I ordered them way back in April before R&D from @kumz and @Littles) Those rivets are a PITA. Havnt had a chance to test full droop or compression yet though. I have a feeling my Dakars are going to limit uptravel before my shocks. TBD.

so will these work with the OME Dakar leaf packs and which size shock would work best with this kit?
