Front Running Lights Not Working

Ive got a 2007 Toyota Tacoma and I realised today that my front running lights dont work, my tail an license plate lights work fine. If its a fuse which fuse is for the front running lights. Any help would be useful.

Mine have been out since I had a shop work on using my fog light circuit for my PIAAs and something blew. Everything else works and I ended up using the PIAA harness, but my running lights don't come on. They work as turn signals though, so I know it's not the bulbs. My fuses are all fine, so it must be a relay or something under the hood.

 

do you mean the lights on the front outer edge? this is the parking light, and not a running light. Since you were associating it with the tail and license plate light, I am guessing perhaps this is what you are referring to. The parking light uses the same 10a fuse as the tail and license plate light. Your lights probably need replacement.

If you are referring to the lights that are near the front grille that also works as signal lights, if the signal lights work, then you probably do not have factory dtrl installed.

 

The two little bulbs in the outside corners? They are on the same circuit as the tail lights/license plate lights IIRC. Bet they both burnt out right around the same time. I don't think it's the fuse.

 

Mine just stopped working also- ANYBODY???

I am having the same issue, but I am posting here because I haven't seen anyone else post the symptoms that led up to their not working.

This is what happened to me:

Last week, on my way in to work, I noticed that my right headlight (Low beam) was out (High beam was fine). "No big deal," I thought, "I will replace that tomorrow."

After a long day at work, I got back in my truck, started it, and turned on my one working headlight, and after about 30 seconds, it blew out. This was also only the low beam, leafing the high beam functional.

I decided to drive home using no headlights, as I was driving through the city, and it is all streetlights anyway. I was about 1/2 way home, and I saw my running lights in the reflection of the car in front of me...until I saw them both wink out at the same time.

The following day, I went to the store and bought all new bulbs, and replaced them all. The two headlights were, indeed, blown out (low beam). The running lights appeared to be fine, and tested fine with my electrical meter, but I swapped them out anyway.

After replacing the bulbs, my headlights are functional, but I still have no running lights.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I bought my truck from a dealer and it was used, my dad asked meto flip my running lights on so i did then he said turn them on again thinking i didnt turn them on, so they havent worked since i got the truck

 

Sounds like a power issue. Get out your Multimeter and check along the connection...this ought to tell you where the problem is and you can replace/fix the offending item. It may be a fuse, but probably not in a 2007 unless you have made any aftermarket upgrade which altered the power along that particular circuit (not likely). It seems unlikely that it came from the factory with an overpowered circuit. Either way, if it is a power issue you are probably looking at a relatively cheap and easy fix (replacing a relay most likely, which amounts to a few bucks).

Hey All, my added comment to this type of issue. My running lights (between the headlights and grill) not the corner lights, worked great until I hired a local shop to install a remote start system. Pre-Install (1/29/2015) the lights would flash when locking or unlocking my doors and would come on with the first turn of the headlight switch on the column activating just the parking/running lights. Post-install they will not work at all. I took it right back to the shop the very next day (1/30/2015) and the guy there worked on it for 2 hours while I stood by watching him surf the net trying to find a solution, which I in turn did which led me to you awesome people. Thanks by the way, I'm happy I found so many people willing to help each other out. The guy finally gave up and not in so many words pretty much accused me trying to pin this on him and him saying he never touched anything that would have caused this problem. I'm a firefighter not a genius but if it worked before you touched it now it doesn't well let me see....2+2 still equals 4. I must have DRTL since they did work before hand...and I'm figuring that off of all the post I have found talking about when those lights burn and when they don't. This is my first of many Toyota Trucks, I love it and regret not purchasing one years ago. I need help y'all. I don't know where to look next. I have spent countless hours on the WWW reading every post I can find but I still don't have a clue. It may not make difference but he installed a Avital Model 4103L remote/keyless entry system. A search of the owners manual and install guide was of no help at all and the company says contact the dealer for assistance. Been there done that and I'm done with that guy. I know they worked, and the bulbs are dual filament bulbs so there's another back up that I'm not crazy and I should be seeing these light up. Please any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

 

Just a heads up to everyone complaining about this: I thought I had this problem as well. I was trying to connect some LED bolts i mounted on the grill to my running lights, but as soon as I had them mounted and wired the running lights stopped working. I was furious and spent a whole afternoon trying to figure out what I had broken. Eventually I found a different thread and realized YOUR ENGINE HAS TO BE ON. Not the key turned to the ON position, your engine has to be turning over for the running lights/turn signals to work.

Ok, just had this problem. The light next to the grill has two filaments but only one circuit. Positive and negative wires. This is only the turn indicator. The running light is the small bulb in the outside corner and apparently both of mine went out about the same time. I was trying to get the other light to work until I noticed the two wires. Then I checked the outside bulbs and replaced. Hope this helps save someone some frustration.

 

Could you go into more detail on how to fix this please? On the headlights my turn signals work but when I turn the running lights on those don't work. So it's not the bulb. What could be the problem?

 

That was it! Thanks Moto.... now I'm racking my brain trying to figure out why Toyota would put a dual filament bulb in a single filament socket! Oh well, its fixed! Thanks again!!!
