When ya'll are talking about fuel economy are you using this number or actually measuring it? Cause all ya'lls numbers are lowering then this, and this is about the same economy everyday.

I go by the gauge in the car. I drive a manual and I have to really baby the truck to get 17-18mpg. How in the world are you getting 31?!

Don't know? That's what i'm wondering. All my trips are usually between 25 and 31 MPG. I'm about to schedule my 5000 mi checkup and am wanting the TSB done for the transmission, but if it's gonna kill my mileage then i'll just live with the P to R or D delay.

Ive measured every tank so far. My 1st tank was 16.5. Shortly after the 1st tank i got the TSB done and its gone up a little every time. Last tank was 18.4 MPG. Usually the Computer is about 1/2 a MPG low. Last tank was the closest with the computer saying 18.3 and really getting 18.4.

I feel like i get better mileage without cruise control. When using cruise i set it to 68-69 MPH. If i try 75 esp on cruise it goes to crap around here with our rolling terrain. I hate how the truck is so eager to downshift to 4th gear

I have no idea how you can get 31 mpg. Are you in a very flat area and do you ever go over 55mph? Just wondering because mines not even close.

I typically see 24-29mpg too on the display. So I decided randomly to test it using a simple test:

    1. Fill tank up till nozzle stops - reset trip odo
    2. Drive
    3. Fill tank up till nozzle stops

Take the odo trip miles into the gallons it took to fill up

Each time I have been at least 1mpg higher than what the dash shows. I dont drive special or anything. I just drive and respect the Taco when driving. My commute to work is 25miles @ 60-70mph but the commute home takes twice as long and lucky if I even see 50mph so I feel its a really decent average.

When I was off and spent a week doing random driving, mostly city I did drop down to 20.1 - so far thats the worst I got.
I dont know what to say. Even if the ECM was wrong, the way we check MPG is pretty dam accurate. I'm not sure how or why guys are getting sub par miles.
We even use 10% ethanol here and normal gas usually gives even BETTER MPG.
    So go figure !?

PS. I have also checked my speedometer several ways and times and its DEAD ON.

I have a lift and 285's, so mine is off. I track/convert my mileage on a excel app. The truck is a manual and has a touch under 5000 miles and I'm getting 18.3 to high 18's on average.
I pull out all the stops to get those numbers though. Coasting to stops, never idle for too long, shifting at the most efficient rpm, cruise control when possible, driving in a higher gear, taking routes with less stops and generally driving like a blue haired old lady. I've got a motorcycle if I want to go hooligan so I don't mind be extremely sedate in the truck.

I've manually calculated mine for most tanks so far. I've got 7700 miles on mine so it's a significant sample size. My manual calculations are usually a couple tenths above what the computer says, but the computer is always very close.

My bone stock TRD OR SB with a manual transmission gets mid 19's on average. My display shows 20.1 for the current tank which only has about a third of a tank left.

Why would it kill your mileage?? I got it done and still get the same (25-29 mpg)

I'm not sure, but the update helped my shifting and driving delays dramatically! It shifts very smooth now

These little short trip mpg readings are not accurate. The tank mpg readings, at least for me, are pretty dead on. I usually manually check mine about every third fill-up and the computer is always within .2 mpg's of what I come up with manually. I usually average between 20-21mpg each tank unless I have pulled my boat on a particular tank than it is lower of course.

Everyone calm down. He posted a trip summary. He probably drove to the top of a mountain, did weird top-of-mountain things, and drove down at 45 mph.

I would only care if he was posting tank averages that were 31 mpgs consistently.

Prior to having the transmission update, I got around 20-20.5 mpg. After, I'm getting 21.5-22. That's by gallons used / trip miles.

Yup. This was the problem. I didn't know that was an option.

All the rest of y'all can stop worrying I am not getting better MPG than y'all. I changed the setting when I got home and it showed 21.0 MPG.

Not any sorcery or magical mountains uphill both ways.
