Not disagreeing with you, may very well be.

However, if you look very closely, the height of that long dent and the height of the top of the center dividers don't quite match. Now, if and when the Tacoma hit the center dividers (on the wrong side, mind you), that dent at that height might be possible if the Tacoma literally leaned onto the slightly sloped profile of the center dividers.

Also, that nice straight uninterrupted dent isn't possible if you look at your 3rd pic where the multiple center dividers were moved but not moved together by the same distances.

If I'm a betting man, that Tacoma on the left lane hit or was hit on its right side by a tractor-trailer from the right lane, and the height of that long dent looks like it could be the semi-truck's trailer where there aren't any wheels in that location (since someone mentioned there wasn't any wheel or lugnut marks on the Tacoma).

The only thing I can't say is who hits who first.

Big truck mirror on hood too high for just under window 5 t 6 feet off ground, side mirrors too high for just under window. Side mirrors are about 5 to 6 feet off ground. I know how this could start a conversation, but my defense in this matter is that every day I do a pre-trip on a Volvo Big Truck and walk around mirrors and drive 1. Like I said Tacomas trailer swung Right then Left and into Jersey Wall. But until we see the video than all we can do is speculate.

Probably too much speed. The dent on the rear door was from the trailer going to 120 degrees, you can see the trailer is damaged where it hit the Taco rear door.

A Tacoma can easily handle a trailer that size, had to be driver error. Possibly the trailer brakes seized and it started sliding. Either way when a trailer swaps ends on your truck you don't know how to handle a trailer.

My guess is failed CPS and Howling Differential blew out at the same time. Mix in the fact the Trailer with gear was probably close to max load (@ ~5000lbs) which in all actuality is too heavy for this truck to pull safely anyhow -- then add in the weather conditions. Shoulda bought a full size.

All your mirror height talk was irrelevant to the height of that long dent on the side of the Tacoma.

Go look at the 1st pic again (check post #27 for the properly oriented photo), the Tacoma was on the left passing left, and the long dent was on the right side of the Tacoma, so that dent could not be from hitting the center dividers under normal circumstances (unless the Tacoma plus its own trailer magically spun 180 degrees, hit the center dividers, then spun 270 degrees back to where it last sat when all were said and done).

So my foregone conclusion is that long dent stemmed from impact with the left bottom edge of a semi-truck's trailer as the semi situated on the right hand lane.

I did NOT say the Tacoma driver wasn't guilty of this incident. For all we know the Tacoma driver may have side swiped a tractor-trailer to his right. But right now I'm NOT speculating whose fault was it, just trying to logically deduce what happened from a mere 3 photos.

    Anymore actual info, @Z50king ?

Could have been an earthquake or maybe he was evacuating during hurricane force winds. Could have been drunk. Might have hit a patch of black ice caused by climate change. Hurricane and black ice a possibility.

maybe he was getting road head and as he came jerked the wheel and lost control?
maybe as the cock sucker was coming up hit their head on the wheel and made the driver lose control.

    Who knows.
Maybe like someone else said. Drive was moving along heard a diff howl and was like FUCK THIS TRUCK.

OK, I said 'very good tow vehicle', that was wrong. Adequate tow vehicle.

I didn't have a problem with sway control on the 2012 with a straight hitch, no WDH going through Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Arizona crosswinds. It's an adequate tow vehicle.
