I've noticed that when I begin to back up, turn, or use the brakes at low speeds, I can hear the brakes making a noise that I can only explain as "clicking." It doesn't sound like anything breaking or causing damage, just clicking. Is this common for Tacomas and/or trucks, or does it sound like something I need to have checked out? As my profile states but I will type here, I have a 2012 PreRunner 4cyl.

It is nothing and normal for these trucks. It is just the brake pads shifting on the pins that they ride on.

Turn on the stereo and you won't hear it. :)

The clicking sound is not limited to 2wd. My 4x4 does the same thing. As others have mentioned, no need to be concerned.

Get new pads if you don't like the noise. I did it when 4mm was left on the pads, sound gone. Agree with others, normal and nothing to worry about.
