Anyone else have a 2015 TRD Pro that's missing certain pro options..?

I would be at the dealership raising hell with the management and owners. That's false advertising. You probably got a great deal for a Pro but average Sport price. I would feel so ripped off.

This thread speaks to why forums are so useless sometimes.

You have guys saying you got a good deal OP and guys saying you didn't, then you have guys chiming in with what they paid for a 2015 as if they hit home runs on vehicles that are already a year to a year and half old. I would hope you get a good deal on a 2015 considering 2017 models are out for delivery in a few months.

At the end of the day, is a grand here or there really that big of a deal for a truck that holds its value OP , probably not right?

My wife and I had a very similar experience with Capitol. But not nearly as bad as DGDG!!! We also ended up going with Stevens Creek. Fantastic people and they actually perform the services that you paid for!

OP buys his first car and feels he made a great choice and got a great deal.

Tacomaworld ensues; OP leaves disappointed, hating the truck he loved just hours before.

I think you can tell the trim level from the VIN. I have this exact same issue with 2 of my vehicles. One is a Ford Ranger with XLT badges and upgrades, but the VIN says it's a Ford Ranger with the EDGE trim. The other is my Honda VTX 1300C (chopped fenders, shorter saddle, different rims), but the vin comes back as a VTX 1300S (bigger fenders, smaller rims, and touring package upgrades). I always thought it was a common issue :notsure:

I'm not one who often rocks the boat, but if the dealership sold it as a "trd pro" I'd want a trd pro. I'd want that dang locking diff and better bilstiens (I'm assuming yours does not have the pro remote resis. I'd go back and say "what the heck".

The Olathe Toyota VIN decoder has never really worked for me. It just returns:

    Make: Toyota
    Model: Tacoma

The vehicle specifications at the Toyota Owner's site matches the information on the ToyoDIY one better.
    http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/q.html

And this one can give more information.
    http://www.vindecoderz.com/

Even this one calls my truck a Base but gets the configuration (GRN245L-CRFDKA) correct. So it knows 1GRFE/6F/LCB/040/FC13 which is engine, transmission, cab, paint, trim (interior). It would also know country of origin, manufacturer, plant (mine is USA, Toyota, Fremont).

Doesn't know it's a TRD Off Road, though, so only Toyota knows the grade, from the serial number I assume since there's no position in the VIN to indicate that level of detail. You can call Toyota and ask them the original delivery information.

The factory warranty is 5yr 60k for powertrain, if you paid additional money for that then you got ripped off. It doesn't matter whether you got a sport or what, at this point after them selling a sport as a pro I would be checking all the paperwork to see what else they scammed you on.

My point in saying that I paid $36,500 for my Pro was that I paid that for it NEW, before 2016s were available, and I feel most of the people quoting prices are saying what they paid for them when they bought them...1-2 years ago. I doubt anyone was stating they bought, for lack of a better term, a NOS 2015 off the lot when 2017's are already in people's driveways (there are several guys that already have 2017 Pros in their possession). So yes, the price the OP paid for the truck isn't a bad deal, considering it looks like it has been lifted (possibly with the TRD Pro Bilstein suspension, as that is still unknown), and also has the Pro grill, and new wheels/tires. Was it a great deal for an upgraded Sport? That's up to the OP to decide. It's a good truck that will serve them well, and if they are comfortable with the price, that's all that matters. The OTHER issue is that of the dealership advertising the truck as something it isn't, and selling it as such.

Sometimes I wonder if dealers are trying to make there vehicles wrong or just dont know what model it is. I went to look at a newly listed grey 2012 "base" with no pics, when I got to dealer I found it was a black baja. In this case it worked out for the better and I bought it.

Thanks, I bought it in June and really enjoy it. In my case, I really wanted a Black TRDOR so the baja actually had a few things I didnt like(and a few things I did like mainly suspension, and TRD wheels). But, after removing crazy BAJA stickers, swaping out noisy TRD exhaust for a stock system, and throwing some 285s on it, I couldn't be happier.
To the OP, if someone put the PRO suspension and grill on it your truck should look unique and ride very good. Enjoy it! From the pics it looks really nice.

Was it advertised as a Pro or are you just basing everything on the Autocheck/Carfax report? What is listed on the sales docs?

There's a used TRD sport being advertised as a Pro on my local dealers website.

I'm pretty sure I found the old listing for your truck on the web. It is a 2015 TRD Sport where someone added a TRD PRO grill, aftermarket wheels, and probably the PRO suspension.

The telltale sign that you don't have a PRO is that the VIN sticker in the door jamb has the factory tire size as P265/65/R17. TRD PROs came with 16in beadlock style wheels, while the TRD Sport came with 17in wheels. Additionally, the interior shot of the driver's side shows blank buttons where you should have RR DIFF LOCK and DAC.

It's still a nice truck and you should be proud to own one. However, if you bought it on the understanding that you were getting a PRO, you could have grounds to potentially return the truck for a refund. All you have to do is make a quick call to Toyota North America and have them decode the VIN for you. I imagine Toyota corporate doesn't look fondly on dealerships describing their vehicles incorrectly.

I would advise that you do more research in the future when you make large purchases like these.

8 months ago I paid 32,000 for a stock 2015 TRD sport DCLB with 6,000 miles. The paperwork from Toyota said TRD PRO the dealer knew it was a TRD sport.

If your dealer said it was anything but a modified sport they were wrong. If you are not happy with the truck you should return it. But be prepared for a headache from trying to straighten this mess out.

If you like the truck, drive it's wheels off and know that you paid a respectable price for a truck plus modifications.

Toyota should consider that listing all TRD trucks as "PRO" is confusing when they have an option package called the TRD PRO.
