I agree with this, I felt very comfortable on many Colorado trails without sliders using the factory tires.

My vote is for 275/75R16 with an aggressive tread. I'll be getting Goodyear Duratracs in that size soon.

Just because you pushed the button doesn't mean the rear was locked. And even if it were possible you were not helping anything.

Stock size tires will be just fine. But I like 265/75/16's. They are a more common size than stock, are usually cheaper, and I think look better. They don't require any vehicle mods and aren't large enough to hurt power enough to be a factor.

i just got some 265/75/16 duratrac's and love them.

i think u will be very happy with that size

i only get a little rub on the right side when hitting a bump while turned, i don't know where it's rubbing yet tho.
i know the duratrac's have a more of a square shoulder so i'm thinking that's why it rubs when other tires the same size don't rub.

Did you level out the front or is your suspension stock?
I think you just made my decision a lot easier :D

i'm waiting for bilstein to come out with the 5100's for the gen 3 so instead of .85/1.75/2.5
inch adjustments it will probably be more like 1/1.5/2 inch.

there supposed to be out any day now

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
That only makes sense when someone who has already done whatever it is you want to do isn't telling you the reality.

I don't need to touch a stove to find out its hot. I heard it well enough. I can give advice on 33's because I drove for 40,000mi on stock tires then switched to 285/75R16 for the last 40,000mi. If I spent 15% of my time offroad and didn't want to go through the massive fuckery involved in getting a 33" tire to fit well I would be on stock tires. I also get that, much like you don't heed advice, you don't read posts well. I told the OP earlier to stick to stock sizes.

He might be a wiener... but dumb blondes are always more fun :D
Maybe he should pose another question to her.

    Which falls faster on earth...
A brick ton of feathers or a brick ton of lead ? Lol

Few, if any, vehicles speedometers/odometers are truly accurate.
So the factory speedo/odo can't be trusted as a true mph/distance measurement.
It's generally just close enough to keep Johnny Law off yer back.

Measuring for fuel mpg by using the ODO is not accurate either.
But many will still argue their belief.

Need use a GPS for measuring true ground speed.
'cause most rig's speedo/odo are generally inaccurate right off the assembly line.
Doesn't make it better when adding 'dem taller tires.
But many seemingly ignore that difference.

Welp if yer gonna do it... then do it right...
install a Dakota Digital speed signal processor (or like)
of which can compensate for tire size, gearing and is calibrated by using GPS.
And then yer speedo/odo might actually be accurate.

My 295 tires with 4.88 axle gearing is dead on.
So if 80 mph were my intended goal, then 80 mph it is ;)

    Unfortunately...
Johnny Law won't let me legally travel at 80 mph here in CA. anyways
so what could be an hours worth of travel time... won't happen here :(

Welp... maybe it was only 3 mph. (never pay that much attention)
but shifting into 4 low while still rolling... my 1st gen does.

But yeah... always better to stop and shift into low range
    as it's easier on components.

Now my CJ7 had to completely stop...
and even then... some grinding might occur during engagement.
^ likely due to the chain driven T-case.

    ----------------

wth was this thread about  :p

15% off the tarmac, on dirt roads ?
meh... retain the stock tire size.
    save yer money for gas.

Not in a meaningful amount. Maybe over several hundred/300,000mi. But for a 5000mi service window, for a 30,000mi service window, for a 1 mile drive test, for a 250mi fuel tank measurement? Close enough. Speedometers aren't off by that far until you start changing tire sizes without updating the computer.

When I had my speedo checked on a dyno due to a speeding ticket, dyno operator said factory spec for most manufacturers is +/- 5% from actual speed.

Yup. I love laughing at folks like you after you spend $2000 on a shitty lift and tires and complain it rides like shit.

    Opinions, bruh.

My vehicle rides better than it did stock, on and off road. No complaints here.

    Correct. Opinions.
