I highly recommend the Owls Head Transportation Museum, then, since you're going that far.

And maybe taking the ferry out to Vinalhaven? That's a really pretty island to walk around on(Huber's preserve and Lane's Island preserve especially), and in October you should have it mostly to yourselves. But bring a sweater!

Figured I'd post a little update. Thanks Noel for the pointers on Maine, beautiful weather so far this week hope it stays nice for the cape this weekend. Picked 20lbs of apples at an orchard near Kennebunkport. Camped on a lake/pond near old orchard beach, pretty sweet. Although you can tell this area is for summer only. 1006161632_HDR.jpg 1006161756_HDR.jpg 1006161737.jpg

Lol, after spening a month living in the woodlands for work training I don't know how people stay sane living in Houston. Wayyyy too many people in one area.

I live in NW GA, about an hour or less from Marietta. Lots of stuff in the Atlanta area and N GA. My wife and I volunteer for a search team that specializes in finding missing and lost persons remains and was near Myrtle Beach back in June for a search. We drove into town for a couple of hours and I was actually shocked at how "bad" it was. I think that several years ago it could have been a good place.

The port in Charleston has a Naval military museum with several WW-2 era ships and a submarine that I enjoyed several years ago when there.

Lots to see on the GA coast.

Thanks for the heads up. We plan on heading down the Georgia coast after Charleston and spending some time in Savannah. I've been to tybee island before and that was a fun beach town. Hopefully hurricane Matthew doesn't do much damage along these areas.
