I swear when I bought my 2016 Off Road the LED things in the headlights were on as driving lights - or at least something was on all the time. However recently I've noticed I have no DRL.

I've tried the column switch to turn them off and off. Nothing happens. I can turn on the parking lights and the LED strips turn on. But in auto mode nothing is on.

Is something not working or does my truck not have DRL's even though there is a switch to turn then off?

Now that I have all of this type out I'm thinking there might be something in the settings menu I accidentally turned off. I'll double check that later.

I'm not sure I understand what you're describing, but I can tell you,

    DRL go off when the headlines are on;
DRL only turn on when you first put it in D or R, not when you first turn your car on and you're sitting in park.

EDIT - I'm wrong, see DRJ1014's comment below.

    Put your parking brake down.

While in Park and parking/emergency brake engaged the LED lights are off. While in park, once you disengage the parking/emergency brake the LED lights will turn on.

DRL stay on when the headlights are on they just dim.

DRL do not turn on when you put it into D or R, see my comment above.

Thanks, I just checked the manual and everything you said correct. All of my statements were just based on observation which is why I was mistaken.

    2016 problems... lol

My 2015 the DRL are on any time I put the light switch to the "DRL" setting and the key is in the "On" position (running or not)

Just like @Jester243 stated, my 2015 Tacoma has "Off, DRL, Parking Lights, Headlights".

Tacomas without Auto are the same.

    Off, DRL, Parking Lights, Headlights

I think auto are (I could be wrong)

    Off, Auto/DRL, Parking Lights, Headlights

I thought that too. So on my way home I tried no parking brake. Didn't change anything. Nothing is on at all in my headlights - no parking brake, lights in auto mode, in park or drive.

Well I'm a moron. Turns out there is a setting in the nav menu to disable drl. It was unchecked.

    Nothing to see here. ;)

    Thanks guys.

It's too much reading on this forums about the 2016. At one point I was convinced my truck sucked so bad I almost traded it in for a 5k loss.

I haven't had any issues except the auto trans sucks. But still. Any little thing I'm like oh great. I bought a pos.

Take it to the dealer for the TSB on the transmission, its just an update should run better. (see sticky. Print TSB and take it to the service adviser and tell them your transmission sucks.)

Just wait for your rear diff to start leaking around 8000-15000 miles. Howling noise around 45-65 mph from either the front control arms or rear diff.
