Today I installed my trd exhaust. Reused the factory exhaust gasket and of course ticking/rattle noise. Replaced the gasket. It seems alot better but still have a faint rattle noise. Didn't mess with the heat sheilds. I don't know if this is typical for this system.

    Thanks

Also I assume the exhaust tip is bolt on? Make sure that's tight if so.

It's a one piece system. The tip is welded on. Two bolts to the flange and rubber hangers.

Can you pinpoint a general area? Front to back?

    Still guessing heat shields.

Since it's a one piece system. I'm thinking the flange area to the y pipe. Everything else is welded from the factory.

Check the springs. Some guys have said the springs haven't seated right, and got rattles. Also make sure the bolts are torqued to 33 ft lbs. I just did mine, and bought all new hardware (bolts, springs, and gasket), but based on how everything looked, it was probably unnecessary, but I didn't get any rattles either, so who knows. Maybe the springs are a one time use?

The springs look new even the bolts. I'll check it out. Thanks.

The thread I read, said the guy just moved how the way the spring was seated against the exhaust flange. Like he just used a screwdriver, or something as leverage to move the seating on the spring. Said that cured his rattle. It's a current thread around here, just can't find it at the moment.

Now that you mention mine rattles a little as well. I've had my TRD exhaust for a long time though, 6 years or so, just never really bothered me much.

It didn't seem to rattle this morning driving to work. Hopefully the demons are gone. Well see this afternoon. So far liking the sound.

I recently installed a TRD exhaust on my truck. I used a new gasket at the time of installation, however I noticed this irritating rattle that occurred at idle especially with the AC on. I put up with it for about a month, but it seemed to be getting slightly worse as time went on. The heat shields had plenty of clearance, it didn't seem to be coming from the catalytic converters or the muffler itself. So, I ordered a new gasket, a tube of copper rtv, and some new hardware (just in case). Got everything swapped out yesterday, and so far no rattles. Got my fingers crossed!
