All the reviews on this and the similar Reliance Jug are pretty similar.
Thick and sturdy, but the spigot and fitting are weak.
SInce I'll be storing it upright and plan on using it with the Onboard system, I spigot isn't really a big deal to me.

I have these plates on both sides of my bed. One has the emergency kit on iy and the other side I double stack the 2 gallon water containers. They work great.

so you can mount other stuff to this? I need to mount a shovel below the bed rails away from my softopper hardware. Plan to use quickfists. How far below the rail is the mounting point?

So to add to my #EAF points I took on the task of retro fitting and ARB roof console meant for an FJ to the roof of my 2nd gen. Next up HAM and license.

Technically you could drill your own holes in the plate and mount anything to it but I have a Rotopax emergency box and their water containers mount to it via the standard rotopax mounts.

The rail mount is at the top of the plate so the plate sits level with the top of the rail and goes down 3/4 of the way to the bed bottom.

So this is not a task for the faint of heart. The FJ roof is flat so this console is flat on top. Luckily the top trim comes off nicely and I could trim/contour the top to match our headliner. Took a good hour to get it decent. Then the mounting brackets match nothing in our headliners so I pounded them flat and re-bend them to get it to mount correctly and then used self tapping screws to mount them. And of course the wiring diagram was useless. After about 20 minutes I had it figured out. Valet, door, and reading lights all work as they are supposed to. The light output is awesome from these LED'S.

The center door is a decent sized storage area that ALL sunglasses will fit in. :D there are some cutouts in there that I need to get on their website and see if they are for some accessories or something for those cutouts. My truck had the compass and temp display in the roof before. I kind of missed it so I ended up ordering a new mirror from Bob Prim that has the compass and temp in the mirror which extremely easy to install. For a bonus I got auto-dimming to boot.

On a side note there is a version of this console on their website for the Hilux. It appears to contour perfectly to our headliner and I bet might bolt right up easier then this project. But the kicker is I could not find anywhere to order it for shipment to the US.

Good to know. I was aware the FJ roof was flat, wondered how you got it to contour nicely. I'm assuming there was enough 'sidewall' (so to speak) that you could trim it while still getting clearance for mounting accessories inside?

Thanks for the info! Good Job!

Yeah there should be plenty of room for a radio in there since it goes into the space where the compass and temp unit was.
