Maybe someone else will chime in.. but I don't see why not? Remember TAKE IT SLOW....

I'd be more worried about the chains hitting the UCAS or fenders while turning than anything else... but u don't want chains snagging....

Depending on tire size and the chains, probably not on the front. Unless you're running really skinny tires or wheels with a LOT of offset you won't have room for clearance on the front. With factory sizes it'll be really close on the rear. If you're doing any off road driving that involves any flex you'll probably have chains contacting sheet metal on the rear too.

You can go a lot of places with them just on the rear and the front helping. Here is a pic of them on the rear of my 07

The back, most likely no issue. The front will have trouble with the chains hitting the calipers.

This is one time I give Toyota credit for sticking with drum brakes in the rear.

If you follow the old advice to try it out on your driveway before you go, I believe you will find Marshall R's advice spot on. I did that on mine. Even skinny cable chains would not work.

I would imagine the chains would hit the UCA's in the front. There isn't much clearance on them.

the manual for my truck says:

    CHAIN INSTALLATION
Install the chains on the rear tires as tightly as possible. Do not use tire chains on the front tires.

That's silly, they WILL NOT hit the calipers, which are tucked in the rim.
Which isn't to say they won't hit anything, upper control arm, and fenders, etc.

It can be done with the right wheel/ tire combination. Running small, skinny tires with spacers or rims that push the tire out would be the key, like stock 245s on stock wheels with spacers. With 33s and OBA, I haven't even run chains on the rear in a couple years. I always have a set in the truck though.

I would have needed 1 1/4" spacers to be able to fit front chains with my LT235/85R16s, there simply isn't room between the inner sidewall and the UCA / spindle in stock form. Rear - no issue, just keep 'em tight and go slow.
