My father recently traded in his 2015 for a newer truck and gave me his OEM bed extender. It should work on my 2007, but I am unsure what parts I need to get. Has anyone done this? I know I will need some brackets, but I don't know if the 2015 brackets fit the 2007. I did not have a chance to look at his truck before he traded it, so I can't check to be sure. Also, the bed extender has a couple of small straps with buckles. I am unsure what these are for since I have never owned a bed extender before. Do I need additional parts to secure these buckles to the truck?

The straps are to connect the extender to the tailgate (they attach to the tailgate latches on each side). I guess it's to keep the extender from bouncing, but I never use them. All you need are the brackets that mount to the truck. I used some black marine caulk after drilling the holes for the brackets.

Make sure you test fit before drilling holes. Be sure your extender will flip and your tailgate will close properly

Edit.. those brackets don't look anything like mine... I have the
    PT392-35000 extender
