Anybody have anything good or bad to say about the MGM factory touch up paint ? Just discovered two very small blemishes on the lower plastic frontend of the truck. I know, I know some would say just leave and that's ok too, but it's too new I guess to do that...just looking for some input

I just did my grille trim and emblem in DupliColor MGM (#BTY1619). I did 1 coat matte black primer, 2 coats MGM, 3 coats Rusto Painters Touch 2X gloss clear. It looks like factory. If I had took more time and wetsanded, it might come out better than factory. They nailed the color. For the black grille part, I did Rusto Painters Touch 2X Semi-Gloss. I think it looks more OEM and cleaner than just a matte black.

Their paint has had good reviews here. One day when i decide to not be lazy I'll paint my chrome grill with it.

Yes! Their paint is amazing! I have bought their touch up spray for several vehicles and always a perfect match. And their clear coat comes out amazing. Both of these are Automotive Touchup rattle can jobs

But duplicolor MGM is perfect and comes out great too. And 1/3 the price of a custom can from Automotivetouchup

Do you have any photos of the truck w/ the painted grille installed? I've got the same DupliColor paint, and am debating doing the same thing you did. Curious to see it on the truck.

Couldn't be happier. I can't justify shelling out $500 for a grille, I just wanted chrome gone.

Cool, thanks for the quick reply.

Glad to have seen the photo - a tad darker than I would like, but there's some potential there. Will sleep on it.

How did you get the paint to stick? My dealer body shop said they can't paint chrome because the tiniest little thing will get it to crack and then it will start to chip away.

To do it right you have to sand the chrome off down to the plastic. A dremel will be your friend in the little tight spots. All I did was scuff mine up a bit with a scotchbrite pad, then did 3-4 light light dust coats letting each fully dry to get it the best "bite" possible before doing full coats. I'm sure it'll chip easy, but I wasn't concerned with longevity because I have future plans for the grille, I just couldn't take looking at that chrome another day. Been on there over a month now, no chips yet.

Also you can spray Adhesion Promoter as well to help attach to the chrome/plastic. I roughed it up and then sprayed that after recommendations. Will be spraying the MGM Duplicolor after I a coat or 2 of primer sealer.

Grill looks great. I was going to just do black but went with MGM.

It actually didn't hold up good because their clearcoat isn't hardened, it's just for touch up. I ended up redoing it with 2k hardened clear coat.
