I wasn't sure if the 3rd gens apply to the rear diff breather. I drove in water that was 3/4 up my wheel. I have 16 sr5 dclb 4x4 stock everything. I was reading that the front diff has a 2 way valve that doesn't suck up water. When should i service if I need to service.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
If you're worried about it, switch it out. I would

Even with check valve breathers diffs will take on some water. Especially warm differentials. The rapid cooling of the housing sucks water in and was responsible for a lot of boat docking trucks differential failures.

That said, you hardly drove through much water and its likely a one time deal. I personally wouldn't stress about it.

Rear diff breather is really easy to relocate and the fluid is super easy and pretty inexpensive to change.

Is there a tutorial for the fluid change? Will it void my warranty if I change it my self?

No tutorial needed. Drain plug on bottom, fill plug half way up back side. Loosen fill plug first, remove drain plug n empty it. Replace drain plug and fill it with 75w90 synthetic(3.5ish qt on mine) until it cant take more n starts coming out the fill. Replace fill plug n call it a day. Grab a bit of stuff to do the diff breather relocate and you can do that while it drains

Though i didnt have mud in mine like i suspected i would, there was a ton of crud on the magnetic drain plug so i was happy i did it. Think 4 qt of lucas 75w90 was like 47 bucks. Good insurance

You guys use a pump to pump in the new fluid?? One of those hand held deals .... I've used them for lower units on boat motors less mess!!

I bought some gear oil from Toyota .. it was like $25/qt... not cheap.

How much do we need for the front and rear diffs??

How about the transfer case? Same gear oil?
