I'm in the process of upgrading the suspension on my 2010 Tacoma, and I'm really tearing my hair out with this problem I'm facing.

I bought some new KING Extended Travel 2.5” Remote Reservoir w/comp adjusters (25001-119-A-E) for my front from Downsouth Motorsports. Now for the UCA they had some old stock Desert Products UCA that they were selling for a good price since they no longer make or carry these arms. So I bought those UCA and installed them and the Kings on my truck.

Well, the Desert Products UCA hit the springs at full droop. Downsouth were really cool about it and offered that I can exchange them for some Dirt Kings or Total Choas UCA as long as I pay the difference.

So I get the Dirt Kings. When I pulled off the Desert Products UCA, I notice that they were also rubbing against the remote reservoir tube and had dug into them since the arms had square edges.

I then get the Dirt Kings UCA on, and guess what, they also hit the springs and rub against the remote reservoir tube. :annoyed:

I'm really stuck at this point. Does anyone else have a similar setup? Have you also experienced this problem? Should I try another UCA like Icon or Total Chaos?

Can you take some pictures of your set up from a distance?

Let's see if the install was done correctly.

We have our UCA and King 2.5 combo and we have not had any issues.

You just need to rotate the spring so the uniball cup goes in the coil gap, would have worked with the desert products ones too.

How easy is it to rotate the spring while it is still on the truck?

Usually pretty difficult with kings. You can try getting some ratchet straps on them to load them past the collar preload, then rotate until the uni cup fits in one of the spring gaps.

Unrelated, what backspace wheels are you running?

Cool, you might rub on the front of the uca a bit depending on the alignment, mine do with 4.3, but I have the heimed ones and they line up different than the bushing ones. I would suggest to add some Superbumps and you will have a pretty bitchin front setup.

I have the Superbumps in the garage waiting to be installed. Although, I'm not clear on how remove the factory bumpstops. Wheeler's told me to use Channel locks, but do I grab and twist the factory bumpstop or the metal plate on top of it. I also don't have any channel locks.

I'm having the same issue with Dirt King uppers and rubbing on the hoses. Subbed for a solution.

Are you sure the bolt and misalignment sleeves are correctly installed in the uniball? Looks like the attachment point to the spindle is lower than it should be.

I'm not sure about spinning to the coil gap for clearance though. ..lol. What happens when the spring compresses? It's a shitty design if that is the case for clearance.

As I mentioned above just about every uni uca will hit the spring on droop with an et coilover. Think about where the uca is going to be when the spring compresses . . .

Do you have the new style hose and fittings like OP or the old one? I have the old one and I had to zip tie the hose to the coil bucket.

I just installed the same setup with Total Chaos UCA and didnt have that problem, not even close to touching at full droop. Maybe I was just lucky.:notsure:

Not sure if Kings install the same as Icons, but if they do then your misalignment spacers on the LCA are backwards. For the Icon install the thick ones go to the front of the vehicle.

It seems like this issue is hit or miss, or that you'll encounter the problem when you have Extended Travel Coilovers.

The truck is my weekend truck and I have a beater daily driver that I use normally. With all the changing in and out of the suspension, I was never really able to drive the truck. Today I drove it into work, and we have a few nasty speed bumps in the parking lot. (I think I have reached mall crawler status now.) Well I can hear and feel the UCA's making contact with the springs.

I contacted a local vendor that also makes UCA to check with them if their product can clear the springs. So we'll see

I also heard a loud metal on metal bang coming from the rear every time I went over a bump. Along with the front I also just changed out the rear to Dakars with the D29XL AAL and King rear shocks. Another problem to diagnose :annoyed:

Install the super bumps with a 1/2" washer, you will fix the issue more than likely

I know we have a little different set up but I had limit straps put in so my UCA doesnt hit the coilover.
