So long story short, I can't exactly figure out what I want to do. I have about a thousand ideas in my head right now, and I'm pretty sure that I'm missing things. So hopefully those that are a bit more knowledgeable can throw in their two cents.

This is all on a 16 sport 4wd

Current plan is DirtKing UCA's and LCA's with kings in the front. Rear would be kings and deaver J66's. Past that, I'm losing my mind with supporting components like what bumps to go with, to shackle flip/not shackle flip, gussets or no gussets on the spindle, hoop or no hoop, so on and so forth.

Knowing that, anyone have any recommendations on what they would do, or if they could do it what would be a good route to go? The rear suspension has me more confused than anything.

I plan on doing all install myself, since this isn't my first suspension rodeo (just first time with a tacoma). Overall, I'm trying to get the most out of the suspension without going to a +2 or +3.5 kit. That's just not in the cards right now.

Thanks for any info. I'm still doing my homework on the side, but it's a lot to take in...

Budget? You're already into it for a couple K, based on your description.

Not terribly worried about budget. It's not like I'm going to get it all ordered tomorrow. But if I had to put a number on it, I'm figuring by the time I'm where I want to be, 5-6k ish.

Between returning from a deployment, and just moving bases, I have a decent chunk of change and an accepting wife.

The two of us plan on having some fun in the desert with it here at Edwards AFB, and still being able to overland at times. We don't put a budget on fun, and want it to handle what we throw at it :bikewhoops:

Give the guys at Down South Motor Sports or Wheelers Offroad a call, below is all based on 2nd gen trucks. They can help with the specific parts that work togeather.

Are you willing to cut holes in the bed and/or weld on the frame? That will determine how long a rear shock you can fit. Longer shocks = more travel.

Based on the length of the shock you can select bump stops, along with any spacers or offsets.

Shackle flip and Spring Under Axel let you gain travel, or trade up travel for down travel. Lot's of questions about what you want the truck to actually do before going down that road.

I've been staring at that thread since I bought this truck back in March lol It's just a lot to take in. At least on the rear suspension. It's just figuring out exactly what works with what. There is a lot more out there than there was for my last truck (12 Nissan Titan), and figuring out what to get is like a jig saw puzzle.

I figured I would end up just sitting down and emailing or calling DSM or DK. I actually emailed DK earlier, and DSM was going to be next.

As for welding or putting holes in the frame, I have no problem with either. I won't get where I want with straight bolt on parts.

What size tires are you going for?

If you want to keep the bed intact, but don't mind welding to the frame, you can do a shock hoop in the rear wheel well, and there is your limiting factor. I _think_, but please don't quote me in public, that a shock hoop is enough to get the full use out of a J66 pack. I have Dakars, and really should do a shock hoop, and longer shocks than I have.

If you'll cut up the bed, and do a cage style shock mount, then the sky's the limit. Also you can tie in your cargo bars and RTT mounts. That's truly built not bought territory.

    Other things to consider:
-boxing in the rear frame and adding stronger cross members.
    -moving the spare tire
-bumpers, possibly high clearance and cutting fenders to make them fit.
-cab mount chop on the front.

Currently trying to not bed cage, but haven't said no yet haha as for wheels, I'm gonna stuff what I can. 33s seems like about it. I've crammed 35s in wheel wells before and was never happy. But I'm pretty sold on 33s on Toyo AT2s or GG AT2s, and the SS Ray 10s. I know a CMC is in my future.

Call Dan at wheelers, and do what he says :)

Or go post on the MT thread and see if you can start a good shitstorm over there, it's been quiet lately.

I almost did...and then decided against it. The thread is bookmarked though, so I can spend another night plugging away at more info.

I'll give them a call. Haven't even looked at wheelers yet. Thanks!

Icon 2.5 RR Ext travel coilovers, Icon 2.5 RR rear shocks, Icon progressive leaf pack, DirtKing UCAs, and a DirtKing 1" diff drop

I'm pretty happy so far with the front, and fairly happy with the rear. It's not that the rear is bad, I'm just not overly impressed.
