"Vehicle based self supported travel" is the best I can put together.

Basically truck camping with cooler gear while exploring cool places that usually involve some amount of off-road.

I'm a fan. I call my version "Amateur Expeditions" because I've got a pretty basic setup and I'm not usually completely self-supported (I like flush toilets too much I guess).

Check out Expedition Overland for the fully sponsored version. They are pretty cool group. I love the videos because they are video production guys so the camera work is impressive. They would take trips for fun and they turned it into a sponsored gig.

I haven't turned around on any trail I planned to do. I did turn around in Calico because I didn't plan to wheel Pucker Pass....

    I'm in a DCLB and I don't feel it's too big.

Overlanding is defined by overlanders as multi-day to multi-week vehicle sustained travel where the act of getting-there is the adventure instead of the destination

Most of what people do on here is vehicle sustained back country adventuring

I ended up with more pin striping than the guys with jeeps when running the same trails. No issues on fitting on trails though.

That's sounds like my bowl-a-gravy. Not much public land around here to allow that though. I am planning a trip to Moab but not in the Tacoma. That's the plan anyway.
