So I was able to update my iOs operating system on the phone (ver 9.xx) and I still have the same problem. the BT connects, but its a poor connection and the music constantly cuts in and out.

    - I have the latest iOs software
    - I have the Entune App installed, account signed up and running
    - I have iphone 5
    - I typically try to use Spotify to play music
    - My work around for this problem is to turn off wifi, and immediately turn back on... the connection is solid after this.

Any one else got ideas to try?

(sidenote, at first I didn't update my software because I did not have enough memory. when I checked my memory in iTunes, I noticed I had 5+ GBs of "other" data. so I backed up my phone, then did a complete wipe, and then restored from backup. this freed up about 4 GBS... which gave me plenty of space to upgrade)

Just curious, why would one want to use the Scout app and not just use the default Navigation?

cause it provides more function than the head unit nav by itself.

Yes, make sure FACEBOOK app is closed in the background. Had an issue with FB running in the background when my iphone 5 was connected via USB in my camaro. Doesn't happen all the time, but the issue was the volume could not be turned all the way up in the car. The sound was about 'half' volume. When I would close the FB application (double click and swipe the app up to close), would resolve the issue. I am still running OS 8xx.

Not sure what the heck FB had to do with the volume via USB, but it was doing something to the phone. Another app could be causing the issue with the phone, so it 'could' be the phone.. something to try.

Facebook can open a portal to Hell, and use your truck's navigation suite to guide you there. Use with caution.

    Thanks for reposting....

So here is a list of the features and my thoughts in red:

    - Turn-by-Turn Directions

With Scout® GPS Link, you can save your favorite

    destinations and get voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions.4

    - Voice-Activated Convenience

Search, directions and other important on-road functions

are easy to access with Entune’s™ steering wheel-activated

    voice recognition.

    - Quickest Route to Home & Work

Want to get directions for the quickest way to home or

work based on current traffic conditions? With Scout® GPS

Link, all it takes is the push of a button.

    - Gas Prices Near You

Need gas, fast? Search for the closest gas stations in

Scout’s® search screen and, where available, view gas

    prices before you arrive.

    - No Subscription until 2024

All of these features already exists in the Navigation App! Again, I am not sure why I need/want the Scout app, just more apps to mess with. I don't know for sure, but I believe the Navigation app runs on your GPS data, and therefore does not use your cellular data. It looks like this Scout definitely runs off you cellular data (could be data hog = $$$). Not trying to argumentative, just trying to understand the added value of Scout, if any.

    1. the added benefit is you don't have to pay the dealer to update the nav, whereas scout app updates via the app and cell plan.
    2. the nav doesn't get updated traffic unlike the scout app
    3. nav data is obsolete, scout app is updated more frequently

I had entune. Never saw the benefit of it. My iPhone 6 still works perfect without it

Ok I'm with on you #1 and #3, but the Nav app definitely gets real time traffic updates. Often warns me of "busy traffic ahead" and such.

The real cost to using the Scout app is that it uses cellular data. That can add up real quick. I confirmed this evening that the Nav app does NOT use cell data. I assume it feeds off the GPS signal.

Haven't tried it but does the Scout app allow you to download Topo style maps in advance of going away from cell range? Long term, apps like Scout app are going to push the stock apps aside. Toyota is working with Ford (gasp!!!) on AppLink for future vehicles for this very reason. They want to maintain control of the center stack and not be beholden to Google or Apple.

the traffic update is thru clear channel radio stations. so take that with a grain of salt :)

edit: that also applies to weather map updates thru the headunit app.

I've had the same issue since April. I've updated the entune and my iPhone 6 throughout the year, deleted everything and re-paired countless times. After the last entune update it's worse than it was. 100% now of the time I have to manually connect. I called my dealership after and they said they have to see the problem in order to replace anything, even though I've showed it to them several times.... This is the third issue that my truck's had that the dealership has pretended doesn't exist. I've contacted greater Toyota and they're equally useless. I'd trade this stupid thing but I don't want to lose thousands between the trade and losing my topper.
