that's exactly what I was thinking. 5 gallons of gas will be plenty. If I can't find a gas stations with 5 gallons of extra gas, then I'm in trouble. Thanks.

I picked up 5 of the scepter red cans at costco for $12 each on sale. Added an ezpour spout to each and I have MUCH more user friendly cans for $25 total. I dicked around with the MFCS once and they were just a pain in the ass. Built a donkey dick spout, but the can vents leaked, it poured slow and made a mess. I suppose if I had a huge funnel and just poured from the can into the big funnel into my tank, it would be fine, but I like the spouted ones I have now much better.

I use the Scepter spouts and have made the DIY spout as well . I did have gas drip from the vent hole on occasion when I first got my cans and sent an email the Scepter about it , they explained that the handle(s) are hollow and provide the breather path for the air when you are pouring , and if gas is sloshing around in the can , some can get trapped in the breather spout / handle . They recommended slowly rolling the can backwards which will allow any fuel in the breather tube to flow back into the can before pouring .

I drive a couple hundred miles a day, so when I find cheap gas, I stock up. I carry up to 6 jerry cans in the front of the bed using a frame built with 1X4" treated lumber, a few screws, and a 6' cable lock for security. Not heavy, lifts out for cleaning or hauling something, just heavy enough to not rattle around empty. Sits on the OEM bed mat so bed drains normally. Cans are secure full or empty w/only a cable lock through the handles.

That is a lot of spare fuel.

I do the same as others and carry it strapped in the bed.

    However this looks really sharp:

Another vote for scepter I carry two with me on long trips or when snowe is going to be a factor. I also picked up a couple of their water cans. This pic is so old lol

I've got one each of these and I've had great luck with both. Quality is nearly identical. They have a large enough footprint so they don't tip, so straps, mounting plates, etc. aren't needed.

I often have crates with dogs in my bed (with leer shell) and these cans have never leaked or released any fumes (my # 1 priority). Other options may be more "space saving friendly, but these work for my needs.

I saw a picture(that I can no longer find) that shows a tube connected to the vent hole and it runs parallel to the handles. I could see how a little fuel would get in there and drip if you didn't first make sure the vent tube was clear prior to pouring.

I snagged two of those used MFC's from TinkyWinky. Building my own donkey dick out of polypropylene parts instead of PVC for added fuel resistance.

It was not that one, but that is a great pic. The one I saw was from inside the can and showed the entire tube. Looked like a great design from what I could see.
